Hey guys, What rpm are you guys shifting with turbo? I have star stage 1.

Redline works for me for max performance. Just today I bounced off the damn thing twice.

6000 or higherif it doesnt knock

how do you know if it knocks? If it doesn't go anyfaster? I know my car stops at like 115 but that was b4 the turbo, it's scary driving that fast anyway.

I know 3rd gear is our power gear so you should redline that one but the 1st and 2nd shift at like 6500 for the most power. My uncle said when you feel it stops pulling.

NOOOOOOOOOO don't wait until redline to shift with a turbo!!!! BAD VERY VERY BAD!!!!!!! In first just slip the cluch until your tires grab, then drop it. You don't want a lot a tire spin right?? Shift at about 5,500 in first. Then drop it in second so your tires bark, and shift at 6,000 - 6,200rpms in second. Don't go any higher then 6,500 in ANY gear, cause there is no power after that and that's when your engine detoniates!!! REMEMBER....THERE IS NO POWER AFTER 6,500rpms, SO THERE IS NO NEED TO GO ANY HIGHER THEN THAT!!!!!!!!

There may be no additional power after 6500rpm but thats not the purpose of shifting higher. You should shift at whatever point lands you into peak pull in the next gear. If I'm racing somebody and we're neck and neck shifting before redline in 1rst,2nd and 3rd will only cause me to lose (unless you power shift). Maybe after I can boost more I wont need to. Right now and with NOS redline.

No way in hell is shifting at 5500rpm in 1rst the fastest route ON MY CAR. I'd drop out of the powerband for 2nd. As long as I can remember I've heard it said dont shift at redline with nitrous and now with turbo. I've yet to see even the smallest sign of detonation with either yet (knock on wood. I may blow up tommorow with a different story) but I have no evidence shifting at redline in terribly bad for the engine especially in the early gears where you aren't there long (othen than the general abusive nature of WOT all the time). Prove me wrong.

You can't tell if you're detonating.. it's hard to tell with these engines. But watch your EGT gauge.. if it jumps then I wouldn't take it to any higher rpm's because that is a sign of ping or knock.

The reason I said don't shift at redline is because Wyatt had his car dyno tuned and the guy said that having it dyno tuned will show when the engine is detoniating, and they guy said that it begins to detoniate after 6,500rpms. I'm listening to what Wyatt told me and staying away from redline with my turbo on.

Yeah I saw that dyno but remember he was running 12lbs of boost and me a measily 5lbs. Also didn't his timing turn out to be off a bit or something). Remember you have a BB stage 2. I have a stage 1 E-trim. I dont have any power to spare. I've never really prided myself on safety and long lasting engines anyway. I'm suprised its held up so well this long (40K miles on the engine and 38K on the used tranny with wrong fluid with some sort of power adder the whole time). Dont worry be happy (then again my car isn't as new as yours, 95' and paid for. Worst case senerio I go and get that daily driver 88-91 civic si I've always wanted. Honda, me, like I said worst case senerio).

Thanks. I've had "semi internals" for the past 1.5yrs probably why it hasn't blown up yet (Ross pistons, total seal rings and prepped stock rods).

I have taken mine out to redline many a time in every gear except 5th. I am using a MSD though so that is my big helper. I am with Stan though. Where you shift is going to be dependent on where you make power. A bigger turbo will require you shifting higher than a small turbo that would run ouot of stem quicker but come on lower in the rpms. So it all depends.
