58398, High EGT's after rebuild
Posted by RxR_Eclipse, Oct-12-03 02:27 PM
Ok guys I just got done with a rebuild with 8.8 forged pistons, I used the stock rods, but did the standard rebuild. Compression is good across the board ( 170-175 with a TTI racing HG ).
My dilema is my EGT's. Just crusing at like 65-70mph is like 1500-1550. In fact they never go down below 1300, even at idle. Looks like my A/F is ok...anyone have problems like this? I did not boost till over 6hrs of driving on the rebuild. Right now it is at 4psi. My temp is good. My base fuel pressure is at about 45-50 and my max FP is about 85psi. What gives here? The gauge was working properly before the install. I don't think it is wrong. It really climbes fast when I am in partial throttle 60-75%. O yea i have stock injectors.

Hmmm, not sure what's causing it if you have the same setup as before, but I have a few suggestions. I would up your base fuel pressure to somewhere between 55-60 at idle. Yours seems a bit low. And I would up your boost FP to about 100, that's a bit high for 4psi, but give it a shot.

Is there a possibility that your probe went bad. What guage do you have?

And ... if all else fails, get bigger injectors, like the 30lbers or higher (depending on how much boost you want to run) and that should cut your FP way down and hopefully your EGT's as well.

Ill try uping the FP. I don't need forged rods, I don't plan on going over 10-12 psi. This car has to last me. I won't be able to buy another one in a few years.

Looks like it was the regulator. I just loosend up the bolt then put it back down and now all is good. Guess I will start saving for injectors and a SFMU.
