sorry i should jus email hahn but im in school and cant get into my hotmail. stupid filter we got on the computers here...

im sending in my dead engine and getting the 2.2 block and head from the fasterthanyou.com guys, which claims to hold up to i think the guy i was talking to said around 400 hp. now my question is, the hrc stage 3 turbo kit says it comes with the required pistons, rings, rods, etc. is there any way i can jus buy the stuff that im gonna need and still get a deal on it? as in the turbo, injectors, ignition, clutch? seeing im already gonna have new engine internals? cuz i would think buying the kit comes cheaper than buying everything individually. any input will help, and suggestions to yo. thanks - kyle

Don't get the stuff from hahn. Get thier stage 2 kit w/ fmic, thats all you need. The 2.2 from FTY will come with all the good forged internals and everything you need. Thats the only thing you get in the stage 3 is the pistons and rods, basically a bottom end rebuild kit. + hahn is over prices. FTY has thier motors built at VT and they are downright sick. 180 comp on every cyl before my motor ever started up, thats just sick. And no if you go directly to VT you will not get a better price so don't ask. Better off dealing with FTY because the guys at VT are super busy and FTY will take care of you. :thumbsup :thumbsup goodluck!

alright so the stage 3 kit is the same as a stage 2 kit but with the added pistons n suchand the same size turbo? well im def doing the 2.2 from fty, ive already had that planned. but i was thinkin while im at it, ive got a hefty amount of money to spend towards my engine, why get the stage 2 turbo when i can get a bigger turbo? as in should i go with buying a phat @$$ turbo, fuel rails, injectors, etc individually from hanh? or just go with the stage 2 kit, then buy a new turbo afterwards? also, jus if someone could give a guess, how much hp you think i would be running with the 2.2 and the stage 2 kit?

Not exactly true. Stage 3 also comes with the fuel system. Maybe off subject but if you forget about stages youll be better off. If you plan on running around 8 pounds of boost you are ok w/ buying a stage 2, the forged internals that you already have well be a nice add. If you want to increase boost you are going to have to start looking into your fuel system. Hahn has took a way the headache of trying to put together a fuel system on your own (fuel system is the most important part of turboing) They sell it as stage 3. Stages really dont mean anything. IMO I hate when people say I have a stage 4 turbo or I got a Stage 3 or even when people say I got a stage 2... YOU GOT TURBO. How much boost you run is all I care about.

yeh im wanting to run around 10-15 psi. whenever you runnin that much boost are boost controllers or anything else a must have? bov, etc? yeh but if i was to get a stage 3 kit, then i would have those pistons n rods n crap and have nothing to do with it... maybe get a stage 2 and c if they cant do something about upgrading the fuel management stuff? thanx for all the help so far guys. -ky :thumbsup

their built 2.2 can only handle 400hp? i'd think it would handle more than that considering hahns 2.0 is over 500hp, hmph....:shrug

i guess it depends on what internals you use. I know Howell is JE/Eagle , whats FTY's?

I believe FTY claimed even 500 or 600 hp for their 2.0 kit, I'm sure the 2.2 is just as strong.

The 2.2L Stroke Motor handles more then 400HP b/c as FTY stated, the 2.0L can handle 600HP. So the 2.2 could probably handle a little more.

Since we're talking about the HRC turbos. I wanted to ask and how I convert my S16G to a S20G? So I have to just buy the TD06 Compressor? And How much would that coust me?

i checked my emails that i was going back n forth with scott from fty. he said that all the engines they do are capable of handling over 500 horses, didnt give me a certain number for the 2.2. so i got a new ?... does anyone have a guesstimate how much of a difference the 2.2 would be over the 2.0 engine? like, without the turbo, would the 2.2 put out for hp than the 2.0 alone?

The 2.2 would have more power than the 2.0 without a turbo but it would be slightly slower revving. I'm just guessing, but the 2.0 could probably hold more power than the 2.2 since the 2.2 uses a re-tooled crank and it's swinging longer, heavier rods.

so should i go with the 2.0 instead? ive got the grip for either and the turbo, but the 2.0 would save me more for exterior problems i want to fix and change... i dunno, well c. thanx for everything so far guyz

I have no clue what what power levels our oem cranks start failing. But needless to say a engine stroked by offset grinding of the crank will not have a crank as strong as the original. This means nothing of course if in both cases the point of failure is higher than we can reach.

alright new question yall... basicly what im getting @ is, the turbo that comes in the hrc kit, stage 1, 2, and 3, is all the same turbo right? do you know how much the turbo can handle? like, shit... to make more boost from the turbo, all i gotta do is get a better fueling system and injectors and stuff right? since ill already have the engine rebuild? i wanna run atleast 10 psi, but 15 would be gravy baby. thanx :thumbsup

if you decide to go with the Hahn stage III you can always sell the internals...i'm redoing an engine now and could use the parts...let me know...as for you questions i've also talked to scott from FTY...the cranks that they do for the 2.2 are not going to fail easily...yes they have been honed and such but it's also been renitrated....i would just do a semi custom...semi-purchased turbo kit on your own...that it what i've decided to do...the Hahn kit while being well researched has some sub-par components mainly the turbo and cartech....the turbo is mainly my think i don't want internally wastegated turbos...the cartech fmu is widely known to be..well crap..you can make a turbo kit on your own better..maybe not cheaper but at least the same price..and you can get all the components you want...if you need more info hit me up...i know a guy who makes the mainifolds..you can find all the oil lines on ebay..that is half the problems solved right there...the only thing i'm buying is the Hahn intercooler and piping..that to me is just easier...when it's all done though i'm probably going to have new intercooler pipes made...i want them to be black chrome...anyway sorry so long.. good luck

HRC just ran a 10 second 1/4 mile with a 2.0. Why would someone need a 2.2?
