5792, Any New Edge Racing Update? Posted by shengxlong, Jun-02-01 11:02 AM
It's been a while since I've seen a New Edge Racing turbo kit update. Any new scoop guys? I was wondering if this kit will be able to be upgraded in similiar lines to the HRC kit of about 475hp? When is the current ready date? Any help would be great.

We are working on later Stages to the kit. It would be a shame to only run 300hp through that beautiful spearco core :) It will be more of the same though, larger injectors, lower fuel pressure, with fuel curves pre-set for higher boost pressures. Here is a little taste of what’s to come.

where is the flange for the wastegate? or are you going to run internal wastegates with these turbos? those do look real nice though...looks like a better design than the star, but then again, the cast manifold on the star is good for a crack resistant design.

Looks almost exactly like HRC's manifold. :-)
Yes, I would also guess that you'll be going with an internal wastegate...

Actually, we are still using an external wastegate. I'm putting the wastegate flange on this weekend on this test pipe. It will come off the number 3-4 collector. Nothing but the best! Wyatt Leras http://www.turbogs.com 98 Eclipse GS Star Stage 5,000 Turbo kit

Any set date as to when the system is due out?

How does this compare to the Star manifold? Having the turbo in the middle and all? The design doesn't look much different than the star except that it's tubular. Heh looks easier to install!

LAST EDITED ON 04-Jun-01 AT 05:29 AM (PST)well if you dont know the two inner cyl (2&3) and two outer cyl (1&4) fire together so its always best for the runners of cyl 1&4 and 2&3 to be the same length so exh gas pulses aren't fighting with each other but matters me not now cause I have what I have and 300+hp is 300+hp (even if it does have to work harder to get it). I wouldn't mind having a symmetrical manifold but then all intake piping and downpipe have to be replaced to fit (too much work for me. at least our upper radiator hose stays clear of the exh heat. I guess we cant have it all). Aint that a bitch the good stuff comes out with better parts and cheaper less than 2 months after I put mine on. Damn Damn Damn you Wyatt :-) ( Um a jack you up at the shootout on and off the track }> ) The rest I can fix/replace. the mani will have to stay.

haha :P
ahh it all makes sense to me now. The star is a good quality manifold at least. Does it matter where the wastegate is mounted also?

Optimally, you want the wastegate to run off the collector at no more than 45deg from the collector. A straight right turn into the wastegate is not proffered, nor is a wastegate that runs off one runner. Like this one.
Not saying they don’t work, but its not the most optimal position for the wastegate. The New kit will run off the number 3&4 runners and the flange will come out over to the left side where the wastegate will dump into its own (mini) muffler system (add-on option).

Of course, IMHO, the best way to go about it with a tubular manifold would be to use an internal wastegate, and thus remove the position of the wastegate flange from the equation entirely.. a'la HRC.

I TOTALLY agree Dino, But..... We are trying to make the best kit out there and then theres the old saying "You won't find an internal wastegate on a racecar". Granted our cars are not racecars, but I'd like to use the best possible products available to make the very best kit available. Besides, adding a wastegate flange isn't that hard.
