57662, Sexy Dyno action at VT! Posted by etx, Oct-03-03 04:03 PM

Spent a few hours at VT tonight dyno tuning the eclipse. Good times! Best run was 265 at the wheels which translates to 313 hp at the crank! This was at ~ 15 - 16 psi. So far I am happy with the results, but looks like its time to upgrade my downpipe and throw on a 20g compressor. I can't wait to drive the car on the street, I left it at VT for the night to go out partyin. Looks like Matt95_tgs still has a few hp on me! :thumbsup He has a similar setup. Also Matt if you see this I coult only fit 2 hoosers in the car but I can get you 2 more later. Hope they work for you, let me know if you find some cheap wheels for them that fit our cars.
Time to rock out! :cheers

sweet man! Those numbers are right on for that boost level on the S16g. I need to get out there to get my car on the dyno! I know i can get more than what i did at 13 psi :thumbsup

57670, RE: Sexy Dyno action at VT! Posted by etx, Oct-03-03 05:50 PM
Yeah 1st run was about 230 at 13 psi. I would like the power to stay up a bit longer, I hope a larger downpipe will help that out. We went to checkout nicks Z, I think were going to buy it. Z's are so sexy!

yeah man.. nice numbers. get the 20g on there and youll be where i am :)
just remember.. dyno tuning is not the same as street tuning.. don't run yourself to the edge on the dyno cause when you get on the road you will be running lean.

also.. one more thing.. honestly.. i jsut relooked at the dyno sheet.. your curve is not right.. its too wavy.. it should go up and level off.. your car wont be as fast because something still isn't right.
right at about the 225hp mark something is happening. i would go over everything cause after 225.. youre actually losing power cause the curve isn't smooth.

Yeah the curve is rough. Any idea whats up? I know for a fact my dp is raping my air flow. 320+ at the wheel is intense, what work do you have on your motor?

Hey siueclipse. If I use turbonetics t3/t4 hybrid, will I also make the same amount of power your making with the 20G? B/c my friend is selling one, well, im giving him my S16G for it and $200. It's a t3/t4 ball bearing from turbonetics.

nice numbers :thumbsup ....
btw ^^ the t3/t4 wont fit your hrc manifold

sure youll make the same hp.. but the turbo wont bolt up to the manifold..

hrc dp welded to 2.5 inch pipe, no cat and a straight through muffler. plugs are ngk bkr711e or something like that, one range colder than stock. I an running stock injectors and ~380 cc/min secondaries with the 8 injector setup.
edit, btw.. best run was 265 but we had a bad tach signal so the graph looked like shoit.

Nice numbers! Nick didnt by chance use a wideband on your car did he? I'm guessing that you are way rich up top. The reason I say that is because our cars always seem to run lean from around 4k-5k rpm. There are several theories as to why this happens, but I think it's due to one of 2 things. 1. Thats where the engine reaches it's peak VE, or 2. The computer leans out and advances timing at that rpm range. Either way, it causes a problem when you are trying to tune because you need to add more fuel from 4k-5k, but pull it back out above 5k or you get pig rich. I would go do some WOT pulls and watch your o2 voltage. If it is nearing the 1.0 mark up top, pull some fuel out in the 034eic matrix.
BTW, thanks a ton for the slicks! If you have 2 more that you don't want, I could have someone drive over and pick them up. I'm about to start a new project, which is why i need 4 ;-).

Your going to do it? }(
Yeah nick was interested in some too so were going to take as many up at possible. Ill get 2 more to VT for you before thanksgiving.
We didn't hook up the wideband, I wish we sould have. I was actually leaning out in the upper rpms the first few pulls, we just tuned to egt's. Nick almost called you to steal your eic settings, heh. I'm going to get a better dp and probably go back up when we have more time and break out the wideband.
man im I hungover... :puke

Yes, I am buying a 2g gsx but shhhhhh don't tell ;)..... ooops! Don't worry, I am adding it to the GS. I'll never get rid of the GS no matter what. Anyway, here is one of my dyno graphs from vt at 16 psi for you to compare to. This is after i pulled out some fuel up top. Before I leaned it out up top, i was losing a lot more power in the higher rpm range.
I'm soooo pumped to have some slicks hahaha :7 points for you! I owe you one for sure.

Wow your top end looks good! Can you send me your set file from the eic to check out?
I heard you here having trouble getting the vac-boost transistion smoothed out, did you fix that?
|
57742, RE: Sexy Dyno action at VT! Posted by Matt_95tgs, Oct-04-03 01:14 PM
I'll send you the file as soon as I get a laptop to use :). I was just borrowing my dad's back home, but now I gotta actually go buy one. It sucks not being able to fine tune at the moment, but at least it is running great where it's at. I did fix my transition into boost problem by starting to add a small amount of fuel at 90 kpa. That smoothed it right out. The only information I can give you are close approximations of what I have input. My scaler is around 7.1. If you try these numbers, be very careful. Tune it as you would if you were just starting. Although these numbers work for me, that doesn't mean that they will for you because of the differences in our motors. I have a ported head, my injector bosses are located in a different position/angle than your's are, yada yada. I have stock primary injectors and accel 30# secondaries by the way. Here goes...
Kpa
265 1.0 1.0 1.2 1.35 1.45 1.37 1.3 1.3
233 1.0 1.0 1.15 1.3 1.4 1.35 1.27 1.27
201 1.0 1.0 1.1 1.2 1.3 1.25 1.18 1.18
169 .9 .95 1.0 1.1 1.15 1.1 1.05 1.05
137 .8 .9 .95 1.0 1.1 1.05 1.0 1.0
105 .8 .8 .82 .84 .86 .87 .86 .86
73 .5 .5 .5 .51 .53 .55 .58 .62 RPM 875 1750 2626 3501 4376 5252 6127 7003
I hope this helps, and if you have any more questions, let me know.
EDIT: ugh, the forum automatically takes out my spaces between the numbers. They are perfectly lined up where I typed them in :thumbsdown.

very cool!! Now I see what your talking about. I think my scaler is about 8.2. I'm going to save the settings Nick and I came up with last night and try richening it up in the mid rpms. I did notice the egt's jump a bit around 5k, Nick almost shut down when it happened. Thanks man

Nice Work guys, Matt if you dont mind Ill try those settings since im going to be using 30's as my secondary set also.
Yes the Star manifold Should work, But Im not 100 % sure because of the huge t3 family. :shrug

Matt, the lowest line you got on your 8 injector info. the one right beside the 73Kpa .5 .5 etc that line is to adjust the fuel from 73 and 105 right? just want to make sure.. thanks Michael 99gs HRC Stage IV 8-Injector Setup 2GNT Member #32
