5724, what's a good custon exhaust setup4turbo Posted by HadesOmega, May-30-01 06:00 PM
I'm thinking of getting a 3" flex section for the star downpipe which I believe is 2.75". Then a 3" high flow cat. Then a 1.5" flex section for the dump pipe. Then a 3" resonator/glasspack, they have different lengths though, what's a good legnth, any idea how long our resonators are? Then 3" piping down to my performance muffler. I'm getting all this stuff from RRE unless you guys know a better place?

Sounds good but why the dump tube flex section? Are you welding it into the downpipe? If not the last thing you want is that shifting around in open air.

I am getting the Apex N1 muffler with a custom 2.75 cat back. Probably not for about a month though.

thermal 3", cut the flange off, weld on a 3" 2 bolt flange from RRE. 3" testpipe with 3" flange on one end, 2.5" flange on the other end to bolt up to downpipe. OR, if you don't want to go the illegal route, put a 3" cat in there. Then get a 2.5" flex section and put it about 4"-5" from the cat flange on the downpipe. it's an awesome setup, sounds great and spools alot faster.

Are you sure about that (star downpipe being 2.50"). Maybe my eyes decieve me but my mine appears larger than the 2.5" exhaust on my car and close to the size of the intake pipe. I've been wrong before.

well..i replaced the first elbow in mine with a 2.5" elbow. and i put a 2.5" flex section in it. But then again, i have one of the first kits they made. Like #4 i am thinking by the numbers stamped in the back of the manifold. Maybe the new ones are 2.75, but my only thoughts on that is that 2.75 inch exhaust tubing is not usually seen that much. Most places sell 2.5" and 3", but i would assume you can get 2.75. I just don't see why they would use it.
by the way, anyone know if they had any numbers stamped in the back of their manifolds? I think it shows build date, and serial number for the the manifold.
