Does every fmic need the front bumper supports bar to be removed?Is it alot more dangerous if you get into a wreck and its not on?

it doesnt need to be removed. with the HRC front mount it does need to be hacked up a bit.

It does provide support for the slow mph crashes and minimizes damage to the engine bay or support beams.

I don't think it provides that much protection in a major crash. The main frame supports are completely around the engine which seem to provide the most protection.

I myself thought long and hard about getting rid of mine a couple years ago, but am glad I did. I think most front mounts will require you get rid of this or make major modifiations to it. This will weaken the strength dramatically anyway and doubt it will provide that much protection. Bumpers are cheap if you get in an accident. You will be screaming about your front mount anyway;-)

Remember, this is just my opinion and I am by no means an automotive impact engineer.

You can always just do a side mount and then your worries are over.

next time i take my bumper off im getting rid of mine altogether if thats any consolation.

if you don't have the bumper support your ic is gonna get crushed worse than if you did have one.

I have to take it off when I put my sinsei front on though O_o I don't like the idea but you gotta do what you gotta do :P

that bumper has saved me a couple time also hehe I've rear ended other cars and trucks pretty hard and no damage.

Take the support off and dont have accidents and u will be fine :)

It's up to you.....but taking it off is a HELL of a lot easier than trimming that thing down :)

I got a 6x20x3 inch core cause I didn't wanna have to remove or hack anything up that might help in a wreck. My wife still drives the car sometimes, so I want whatever protection for her and my shit that I can get. The biggest problem with this is gonna be the piping though.

My opinion has always been that if it comes with the car it's probably there for a reason. I hacked mine like the pic above. Considering my car is insured as NT, any protection I can give to the IC is important to me b/c I'm sure any adjuster won't factor an IC into the cost of repairs. I don't want to be out an IC if I can help. I used a band saw to hack mine and it was quite easy. I had to trim it a bit more when I actually got around to putting it on the car and I just used a regular ol' saw and it worked out fine. Good luck. ":thumbsup

i just said screw it and took mine out. i have an "interbumper" now. a lot easier IMO. according to the HRC inscructions, it would be hacked up so badly that i don't think that it would function as a 5 MPH bumper anymore. i mean, jeez... the thing is huge! how could it fit without taking forever by messing with stuff?
