57048, EGT sky high

for first 5 mintues or so after starting up the car, Corbins a/f guage reads fine. After that at wot it read .0xx. Fuel pressure is rising as normal. Now everytime I'm on the highway and go full throttle, the damn egt goes up very quick. I find it looming at 1550 at 80% throttle. And this is at like 70mph. What gives.

Mine go to 1600+ when im going up hill at around 70% throttle. They go back down to normal level when I gun it.

EGT's normaly go up at partial throttle. As long as it doesnt get much hoter than 1550 your alright. Only reason EGT's would go up is no intercooler but you have one or not enough fuel.

fuel pressure is going up fine. But at wot, the egt goes sky high and the a/f guage doesn't read right. It just keeps going sky high.

What injectors do you have? If they are stock then thats your problem. Stock injectors are much to small for boost IMO.

I have the 30ibers. This never happened before. I would go at it on the highway in 5th and wot for like a minute before the egt would get close to 1600. Now it just get's up there like nothing.

Your o2 sensor may have crapped out on you.

I think so too. I'm waiting for Nate to finish the write up on the wide band 02 sensor for Dino.

wideband is good for tuning your fuel pressure, but your ecu requires the front o2 to run properly.

? I thought wide band was just a modded 02 sensor? So I just need to get a direct stock replacement?

Corbins digital AF meter gets its reading from the front O2 like suspected. If that is going out, then that is why you get the weird readings(voltage).

Nopi.com sells a cheap one for our car. You might even take yours off and go to the autoparts store(different vehicle of course) and match up your plug/sensor with one there. Try a Jeep O2 sensor. I seem to remember someone saying that it was a perfect match.

I bought my last one from Nopi though.

Two other things to consider. You might have gotten bad gas at your last fill up. Not sure how long this has been going on, but if the octane was lower than expected, this might be the cause.

If you have more than 20K miles on your fuel filter, change it out.

Just more things to consider.

How does your O2 sensor going bad effect the EGT's. I'm curious b/c I've noticed an increase in my EGT's in the past few weeks and they were fine before and I haven't changed anything on the car at all.

that question has been lingering around in my head too. My only guess, is if the o2 is not getting a full reading it sends info back to the ecu to make it think that's running lean.

Ok, but your EGT gauge is completely independent of the O2 sensor. It's just a probe in the exhuast manifold the reads temp. Really, it's not too much different than a cooking theremometer, not that I'm a cook, but I've seen them. I'm glad that I am not the only one wondering this.

EDIT - Hmm, now that I re-read your post that kinda makes sense. If the o2 sensor sees something incorrect, it may be calling more or less fuel, which would effect EGT temps .... hmmmm....

Keep in mind that the ECU only listens to the O2 sensor during closed-loop operation. WOT will be open loop. Here's some info:

If you run lean at WOT, then you can blame the fuel pump, injectors, regulator, S-AFC, etc.
