My boost/vac gauge is reading 13-14 vac at idle (car is warm, and has been running), I recently pulled out my boost guage from the pillar pod to notice that I had a kink in my line right behind the guage. I fixed the problem, replacing the ferral?* and I screwed it back onto gauge. I checked the entire line for kinks and Im ok there.
When I turn my car off the guage doesnt sit directly in the little square (zero) it sits at the top line...(still understand me?) when I took it out I was looking at it..and it can fall just to the 1 psi..uhm could it be guage malfunction, or should I check compression? :wary any comments highly appreciated!

Go run to an auto parts store and see if they will rent you a vaccuum gauge to set a carburator. If you are at about 18-20in/hg at idle, then your gauge is screwy. If not then, you got a problem somewhere. I'd start there first.

I run between 18 and 20 vac at idle so I would say that is a bit low. Before you check your compression check all the vacume hoses for leaks and see if they are ok.

Is it an Autometer boost/vac gauge? If so, then mine is doing the same thing, it rests at like 1 psi sometimes, BUT i still read about 17-18 hg's of vac. I have had 2 Autometer boost gauges do this to me now. Autometer will warrenty it for you. It should rest in the middle of the square box when the car is off.

Brice we will check your compression today when we install the egt gauge. Mine is also kinda that way. Sometimes it even 'sticks' a bit. O well what do you expect from a 40$ gauge.
