I got my custom turbo installed everything looks good BUT! The MAP sensor is throwing a CEL. TOO high of voltage. Could it be possible that the S-AFC is doing this to the MAP sensor? If so any ideas on what to do? I need to fix this because its drowning my car with fuel especially with the Walbro 255 on it.

As soon as you go into boost, your map sensor sees that and cuts fuel. Are you using anything to stop this? The most tried and proven is the "missing link" which is pretty much just a check valve so that your map sensor never sees boost. You can pick one up at www.group5motorsport.com and look under synapse engineering.

The other method is with the FCD or "black box" that comes with the HRC or Star kits. All those are, are voltage clamps. But everyone will agree that the missing link is a hundred times better. So get one of those, and it's almost gaurenteed to solve your problems.

Sorry yes I do have the Missing Link installed. Its getting this voltage even at idle.

is it a 61 code? If so, there seems to be a 420a phenomenon that allows SOME of us to get the 61 code and not others. Some say that on your pressure settings, if you are at 6in/6out if you change it to 7/7, it may remove the code. It didn't on mine however. The only other option (one that i have not tried) is to solder all your SAFC connections to the ecu wires, rather than use connectors.
Apperantly, according to some recent dyno guys, with that code showing up on our (my) car, that it can't be tuned for max HP in closed loop. Im still not sure why, but...


Does anyone with a turbo set-up using SAFC have a 61 code WITH soldered connections?

Remember guy's when you play with the SAFC you play with the voltage of the map sensor. Why are you running the SAFC? Are you still at low boost? What injectors are you running and what fuel press reg? I do not have an SAFC so I could be way off here but it sounds to me like it's the SAFC messing with that map signal.

I have the 61 code. dont worry about CEL's. How many times do I have to say that CEL's mean your making a lot of hp.

Dont worry until a dyno shop tells you they cant tune your car all the way because the cels throw the ECU into a "limp-in" mode. thats what the bastages told me recently anyway. i notice no difference in drivability, but they say you cant tune for best HP in closed loop mode because of the CEL's. any thought on this????

Ok im not sure what code # it is I had my buddy from Parkway Mitsubishi put it on the Comp. and it say MAP sensor to high voltage. Which would make me think that the S-AFC is messing with the MAP. SO Im going to by pass it and do another 3gear run without the S-AFC after I clear the code. I have the LM-1 wide band O2 digital data logger. Then look into reinstalling the S-AFC- does anyone have the pin code wiring diagram for the S-AFC to our cars just too make sure Im correct on it? Also I always solder my wires except when installing new O2 sensors.

Ok I disconnected the S-AFC and hooked the map sensor up stock. What do you know so far NO CEL. Next is to install the FMU with a 12:1 ratio and go from there. LOL Good Idea aye. Also thank you ner947 for the help and reassurance. I will have this going better by end of weekend. Keep your fingers crossed.
