56358, Very nice, and very cheap, cooling system for you guys Posted by MR BLUNT 2gnt, Sep-15-03 03:17 PM
sup guys, i havent posted on here for a while b/c i've been in the middle of my third rebuild...dont ask, but good luck to those running melling oil pumps..the worm gear inside that actually mates w/ the crank cracked on me..no oil pressure equals spun rod bearing, damaged forged rods, damaged turbo...list goes on...it was a faulty pump(first pump did the same thing, i was dumb enough to use a second), they paid me like half of the damage but its still ghey..anyhow back to the topic at hand..i just got the motor back in and everything mounted up, i decided i'd like to finally get a new radiator b/c i'm running a bit warm in the long pulls..so i have a vendors acct and can get some tight deals on a lot of stuff..my good buddy in michigan can get me C & R racing radiators at cost so i decided to get one...nice core, bad ass tig welds, light as hell and came w/ a 12" Spal fan already attached..i got the unit shipped to me at my cost for 415...now the fluidyne through summit is 395, plus there 8 dollar handling fee and your already at 403, add shipping and what it will cost you to get a comparable fan and you can see this is a pretty tight setup..now the only issue right now is that they dont make an application for the 2gnt, only the 4g63 guys..so i have been talking w/ the head engineer at C & R and have convinced him that there is a market for this car and i could probably get a group buy together..i am sending him my cad design which basically took his 4g63 and moved the water necks around to work w/ the car...would anyone be interested in buying this newly designed aluminum radiator for that cheap?? i am sure that i can get him to sell the units for around the same price..would probably be no more than 430 dollars shipped to your door...i can host some pics of my core(4g63) to show you the quality of the welds and the unit..i like it a lot and it is very nice, would anyone be interested in this unit?? ps w/ the fan it weighs about 7 lbs!!! just thought it was cool, i'll have the first prototype for our car and was excited to have convinced him to put this unit into production for us to take advantage of...what do you guys think??:thumbsup

That's a sick deal dude. I just wish I could afford it right now. I hope some people jump on this and yu can get something going and maybe by that time I can afford one. Are the fans smaller then stock because I'm look to get a little more space between my turbo and fan. Good luck with that...I hope it goes good for you.

56365, RE: Very nice, and very cheap, cooling system for you guys Posted by MR BLUNT 2gnt, Sep-15-03 05:14 PM
no, its a slim line fan made by spal..they are nice fans, good for 1200 cfm supposably...total thickness i'd say is 2.5" w/ the fan attached..and the fan is mounted w/ two aluminum rods welded to the end tanks..its a very nice unit..i'm getting one regardless of everyone elses decision, i just figured i'd share a good thing ...:-)

C&R is the shiznit...
i tried to get a groupbuy going back in the day i can have them made by C&R if i got 3 people to order but it never happened..
c&r radiators are much nicer then fluidyne and griffins...

some pixs are nice. i want to get a c &r radiator for my 99gs 420a auto tranny but i dont like the idea of having to buy a radiator alone, then buy a tranny cooler 'good ' enough to handle the cooling of the tranny etc. see what they said about the auto tranny radiator. i like the idea of how it comes with a fan and all. hehe Michael 99gs HRC Stage IV 8-Injector Setup 2GNT Member #32

56421, RE: Very nice, and very cheap, cooling system for you guys Posted by dougie2, Sep-16-03 01:20 PM
The GS-T radiator with relocated water necks will work perfect... no need using CAD and/or redesigning the radiator. It'd be nice for the turbo guys especially if the upper water neck could be pushed as far over as possible and angled about 35 degrees.

How much cooler and more efficient will this thing be though? I don't want to dump $400+ into something that does the same thing as my stocker.
|
56812, RE: Very nice, and very cheap, cooling system for you guys Posted by MR BLUNT 2gnt, Sep-22-03 01:47 PM
from the research i've done i've found that most guys running fluidynes run close to 30-40 degrees cooler w/ an aluminum radiator...its a big helper for guys running autocross and drag racing..anyone w/ a big front mount should have noticed hotter temps...running cooler never hurt anyone...for me i like the way it looks, its lighter and i can benefit from cooler temps..plus for that price its almost a hundred less..i'm a sucker for a good deal
|
56853, RE: Very nice, and very cheap, cooling system for you guys Posted by Chamuko, Sep-23-03 09:36 AM
defenitely noticed a temp rise...a big one at that. some questions though...
looking at the pic it doesnt look like its anythicker then the oem one well the AT looks a bit thicker the you MT guys . So we are relying on the aluminum only not a bit of a thicker core?
socond...when we have the slim fan i see that it uses special brackets. And theres nothing there to mount a second one. Is this going to be an option? what about mounting of the stock fans?
just wondering thanks:thumbsup
oh and making a bump;)
|
56882, RE: Very nice, and very cheap, cooling system for you guys Posted by Kirby, Sep-24-03 07:54 AM
Well the basic idea is that that fan moves more air than both your stockers. Could you find a way to mount one stocker on the other side, prolly, but you won't need to though. I am very seriously intrested because a fluidyne is $400 without the fan, and the fan is easily another $100. These are the rad. they put in nascars so keep in mind that is one hell of a cooling job. Please keep me updated.

58374, RE: Very nice, and very cheap, cooling system for you guys Posted by Ichiban, Oct-11-03 08:31 PM
This is a great deal. I was having overheating issues this summer. To give you guys an idea, I've got a fluidyne (which is thicker than the stock A/T radiator) and a Zirgo fan. The fluidyne cost me $413 shipped from Summit and the 12" Zirgo (which is a flat blade design that flows 1600 cfm and is approx. 2" thick) cost me $90 shipped. If you're A/T like me, you'll need a tranny cooler...that's another $60 for the B&M Super Cooler from Summit.
Anyway, back to the point...I paid $413 + $90 = $503 ($563 if AT) for my setup and it runs MUCH cooler. I'm in central Cali, and can run in stop and go traffic with the A/C full blast when the outside temp. is 105 ambient (much hotter at street level) with no problems. My temp. gauge occasionaly will only spike to 210 max, usually lower. Now that it's cooling off, it consistenly runs around 180-185.
Oh yeah, I'm running 25% coolant, 75% water, water wetter and a Star Stage 2 at 7 psi.
I can post pics if anyone wants an idea of how the C&R setup will look.

aight guys...after fn days of messing w/these guys i finally have some closure...the product is in production!!!!!! we finallyhave another option for cooling other than fluidyne...i like the fact there is no longer a monopoly, damn the man...anywho i'm done w/ the ranting...prices are as follows....if you want the radiator w/ the fan(13" spal) it is 398.27 plus a 16.00 shipping fee...that price drops to 328.27 plus shipping if you dont want the fan..i'm very happy that it all came through, my vendor is willing to drop ship these to you guys who need them to cutout any extra shipping costs..i worked on this guy forever to put these into production and talk him into b/c there IS a market for these...if you guys want to get in on the group buy there more the merrier...i have a paypal account but they charge a fee obviously...all that are seriously interested plz post on here and email me..MrBlunt2gnt@columbus.rr.com...lets try to get this going as quick as possible..i'd like to get mine before november the 5th...btw this guy is great w/ shipping, i live in ohio and he has them to me next day when i order, always comes fed ex(i really dislike ups)..if your in ohio ill need sales tax from ya unfortunately, sorry:thumbsdown

58749, RE: Very nice, and very cheap, cooling system for you guys Posted by DeanoD, Oct-16-03 06:25 PM
Why do we have to go through you? Why can't we just get the vendor's info, check them out ourselves and then order it from since they are going to drop ship anyway.
What guarantees us that once 10 or so people send you money you will get this done. I am not doubting you, but trust is something people aren't giving away these days on 2gnt. Way too many people jumping into group buys that don't seem to happen or take many many months and the product is not what was advertised.
I assume you did the testing/fitting since you said it works great, but you actually don't have one yet. I don't understand this.
I have many friends that own performance shops and they make custom parts. I have never been the middle man(buy low sell high)in any deal on 2gnt. If there is a deal to pass on I just send that person to the source if it is in my power to do so.
If these perfect/great/gotta have/please please radiators with fans are available direct us to them and not to your paypal account.
Am I being out of line? I don't think so.

if you want to go through C & R yourself go ahead, the retail price is 499...you shouldnt call someone out on credibility when you don't know anything about them..i have sold lots of stuff on here and have no negative commments..if you guys want references i can provide you a list of vendors i work with..i'm president of my local dsm club, if you want to call out my credibility then go onto ColumbusDsm.com and start asking away..i really dont appreciate those comments, if you had motiviation like me screwing someone then fine...i did all the r&d on this to benefit you guys..if you dont want in on it then go through Peter (the main sales manager at C & R) and pay retail..i met a bunch of 2gnter's at the shootout this year and one even left w/ a hell of a deal on my tan GSX leather seats, i think his name was Thura if i remember right...your post wasnt cool, if you dont want in on it then thats fine, no harm no foul...if any one of you guys doubt my credibility then by all means go on our forum at columbusdsm.com and ask your questions...if you want references thats fine too... i just dont appreciate working for 2 weeks on convincing the guy at c & r that there was a market and he needed to stick this into production to benefit all of us and when i finally get the green light someone has to be a penis..if you feel more comfortable going through someone like summit then pay to much, i have no problem w/ that...if my vendor knew i was giving you guys these at my cost then he'd probably get rid of me and that would suck, i'm hooking you guys up as far as filament issues its the exact same radiator as on a turbo'd dsm made to fit our car..the waternecks needed relocated, the draincock needed relocated..now it fits our car...its a radiator that already fit a dsm made to fit our cars b/c of the fact the engine and tranny are swapped with relation the 4g63..if it would make any of you feel better i can even scan the cad printout of all of the demensions... and as far as my vendor its a wholesale vendor/distributor, people just cant call up and go through them..they only work w/ businesses...i fn guarantee that noone on here would get screwed, if you want to call Matt and talk w/ him to see if i'm an ok guy i'll even give you his number..as pissed as you just made me i could really care less if the buy even happens...I, me , put a lot of time into helping others out and i get this ungreatfulness..its not cool at all

haha whoa there dude....it was a harmless post so no need to freak out. he's right, we DON'T know you, and by him being safe he's being smart, thats not ungreatful. i personally have been screwed by people for over 500$ and security is something that is absolutely imperative to me/us now. we're tired of shady people....

When setting up a group buy. It would be in your best interest to list references, POC at C&R, and all your information. It is best to wait till the item is produced, then someone can give 2gnt feedback on its fit/finish or any other problems with it.
I do not doubt C&R makes killer radiators(good rep). I just don't have enough information on you or what your intentions are.
I am tired of people getting screwed over hear and am going to start shouting at the top of my lungs anytime a group buy starts without every question answered that I can possibly think of. If we sent the money to an established business it would seem much safer IMHO.
Only you and your local members know of your integrity. It is hard to judge slick talkers from behind the keyboard. If you cannot see why I am skeptical then you have not been following the numerous posts about people getting ripped off during group buys.
Please post personal references, business references, C&R info so they will also vouch for you.
This is why many many people will probably just read this post and secretly want the part, but will not actually paypal you any money. Please help us help you.
BTW: the price for the radiator/fan seems to be very fair. I actually want one, but won't be sending money till every detail gets worked out.
I feel it is a shame that it has come to this. I remember a few years ago this type of thing never happened and we could trust each other. Hell, I have worked hard at helping anyone I can here at 2gnt. I pride myself at putting my friends here above any profit that can be made. I do make a decent living and know that many people are struggling so I never judge or expect people to give stuff away.
As far as pissing you off. I don't care. I would rather piss you off a little than have one person here lose one single dollar.

you make valid points...thats not what pissed me off, it the fact you called out my credibility like you did..a much more civil approach could be taken in the future..you want business contacts thats fine...it kind of makes me look like an ass when 50 plus people blow up a vendors phone lines to make sure i'm an ok guy...heres a link to the vendor i'm going through, if you have questions regarding my interigity i'd prefer you sent the guy an e-mail.. http://www.motorcitywd.com/index.html his name is Matt Gold, hes the main guy i go through at MotorCity, you'll notice from the link its "100% wholesale" if you prefer calling by all means do so, i have no issues w/ anyone calling but put yourself in my shoes and how it makes me look to my distrubitor heres a link to C & R Racing-- http://www.crracing.com/ --, the head sales manager is Peter, hes who i went through, if you need to verify this w/ him then plz feel free...the phone number is on the line--here is also a link to the finalized design sent back to me from c&r - - http://home.columbus.rr.com/mrblunt2gnt/Pics/C&Rcad.pdf
another vendor i have a wholesale acct w/ is Race Prep Engineering, but good luck getting in contact with Wyatt b/c i cant even
personal contacts, well take your pick...plz feel free to check out columbusdsm.com and start a post about it..i've sold to and bought stuff from just about all of the registered users, i have nothing to hide if there is a way to check out stuff on paypal as far as transactions are concerned check out ColumbusDsm@hotmail.com, thats my verified business acct for our club and my business...i also have a personal account through MrBlunt2gnt@columbus.rr.com...if there is a way to verify that stuff i dont know how to but plz feel free --sorry to come off kinda rough, i'm a very passive person..i just felt like your calling me out and i dont push back unless i'm pushed, ya know? i have nothing but good intentions here, i did this to give back to this community b/c my car wouldnt be where it is w/o everyones help -i should be innocent until proven guilty ya know, not vice versa -- i'll do what ever you guys need to get this going b/c i'm very excited this finally is coming to conclusion and its available-- hopefully there are no hard feelings, just plz dont make me look like a dick unless you have reason -- i am not nieve to the fact that scams happen and happen daily on the internet so if you need to probe, plz probe away --i would prefer that you ask questions on my forum as well, those guys all know me very well -- i've turn a wrench on many of there cars and sold many of them parts at my cost -- many of us race at the local track together and see each other at the scca autocross events

i will call matt in the morning..i know for sure he had two on the way, one for me and an extra...once i get some people interested all i need to do is call him...C & R is in indiana, my distruibutor is in Michigan, what i'm going to propose to him is to try and drop ship them from C & R to whomever orders them..everything that i order that this guy has in stock i get next day, every fn time..hes awsome and fed ex is a saint in my book...so if he has them in stock, you'll have it next day...i have never not gotten something next day..now if we can have them shipped from the manufacturer direct then that would obviously cutout the shipment time to him, i'll see what i can work out...when he(Peter at C & R) was talking to me about it i was only getting the price that i posted if i got more than 10...i talked w/ matt and he gets that price for me whenever b/c of the volume of business he does with them, so it doesnt much matter if we get 10 or bust, i can get that price whenever....hopefully these pics work, this is of the 4g63 one, will be the exact same except the waternecks and drain cock are modified to fit our setup, but if it fits in a gst its the same in our cars....i'll get some specifics of delivery for you guys and post tomorrow follow this link to see pics, the C&R directory http://home.columbus.rr.com/mrblunt2gnt/Pics/

ok guys, i talked it over w/ my distrubtor and the guy at C & R wants a fee to drop ship them out...go figure..matt says he can get them in and have them out to you no problem..he expects to have his first shipment in this coming thursday 10-30..i already have one definate buyer from this board, and hes well respected in the community, once everything goes smoothly with him i hope that would build some confidence in the situation...i'm just tryin to hook you boys up...so once this goes down he will post that the experience was fine was good and anyone else interested can either post, pm or e-mail me:thumbsup
