56000, Nitrous w/ rebuilt engine ?'s Posted by pea_jay, Sep-10-03 08:21 PM
Ok i have a few questions. I recently spun a bearing and rebuilt almost everything in my engine. I'm wanting some extra power to whip up on some cars on the street, but i dont need the power all the time so i figured Nitrous would be my best bet. Could I use it with a newly rebuilt engine? I wouldnt be spraying over a 65 shot if they make that. No higher than that anyway. I know we can run a 75 shot safely with a wet kit, but im not going to push it. Also, would it be best to have any supporting mods such as a cai, and full exhaust? Thanks in advance :thumbsup
BTW: I searched the word "nitrous" and spent 3 hours reading lol. I just need to know about the rebuilt engine part :P

Did you get forged internals or just replace them with stock? At any rate if our not planning on going over a 75 shot I say squeeze away :thumbsup But I personaly would wait until my motor was good and broke in before I started pushing it. Hope that helps.

the stock internals can only handle a shot of 75, anything farther, and you risk leaning out or stressing the internals to the breaking point, though some people are pushing an 85, it's very very risky. 75 = safe and reliable. Forged Internals = shoot as much as you can provide fuel for.

Well all i mostly did was help my dad get what tool he needed then just loafed around until he needed me again, he said i just got in the way. I know he put rods, pistons, rings and machined the crank with oversized bearings n junk. So im guessin forged pistons and rods maybe? I dunno ill ask him tomorrow

that is some very funny stuff !
if u got forged your should beable to withstand liek a 125-150 shot
start small make sure tis a wet shot...
start at like 25-50 and make sure she runs good and doesn't get lean
move up gradually....
