55944, car is shutting off when I give it gas
Posted by DSMRoadster, Sep-10-03 06:37 AM
just put in a new relay, but problem existed before the relay was changed out. This all happened in the last few days when car was flooding with fuel and misfiring. Misfiring problem went away and now car just shuts off when I give it gas.

This sounds familiar. there were a couple of guys with this problem. they had a problem with the wires by the egr tube getting fried.

no CEL. car idles almost fine, but when gas is pumped, car just goes dead right away. But if I just go on the gas very very slowly and easily, it would rev up fine.

problem still persists. Mr. D give me your input. Now, though, car seems to sort of backfire when I step on it, then almost shuts off, but redeems itself.

check your intercooler piping. i hasd this problem. i stomped on it, and almost died. i could drive fine w.out boosting it, as long as i didnt floor the gas.

this is weird. Took of the hrc check valve and gave it some gas and the car is fine, no stuttering our shutting down. Just that it's too rich at idle. Put the check valve back on and the problem came back. Why would the check valve do that?
