1/4" NPT if memory serves.

i second that

EDIT: you'll need a 15/64 drill bit to make the hole for the tap.

I thread my manifold 1/8 NPT not 1/4 NPT

and to do 1/8 I use a 11/32 drill bit which turns into a 22/64

1/4 npt is rather large

Hmm, I can't remember now 1/8 or 1/4? I have the tap in my basement, I'll post it up tomorrow for you. Make sure you get a punch and make an indent in the manifold before you start drilling. That will keep your drill from walking ... and cover the bit with grease. It'll cut down on the shavings going everywhere. And ... if you do it on the car, make sure you hook a wet/dry vac up to it. Recommend doing it off the car though.

The four ones I have done were all 1/8" NPT. 1/4" is huge. I removed the turbo from the manifold and removed the manifold from the car. Don't like to take chances.

RRE just does it with the motor running. That way all the chips get blown out of the manifold. I of course... think they're nuts. But they do.

you guys are right, 1/8th. I's been a long time since i installed my egt.

I like how you guys act like you're dealing with first sized high speed shrapnel here.. it's tiny metal shavings. Drill with the car running, and it'll all either get blown out of the manifold, or go harnessly into the exhaust. You're not going to hurt anything.

It's the fist-sized high speed shrapnel we're trying to avoid! :+

Thanks for all the info guys, it was a 1/8 in size thread, it took me about 35 min to install and get on the road ;).

Kinda off-topic, but where are you guys tapping the manifold? I'm sure it doesn't make much of a difference, I was just wondering what the popular consensus is.

BTW, someone please tell me why my Imagestation sig pic isn't showing up. :( It shows up in my Personal Info section but then never shows in my posts. Maybe the site thinks my car is too ricey... <sniff> <sniff> :(

^ ...ok, so REALLY off-topic.

most people put it in front of runner #4. I put mine right at the collector.
