55701, Accel inline + Stock, or just Warbro Posted by lickscissors, Sep-07-03 06:18 PM
i have read so many people running different things and saying different things.... im only going to be running 5psi, no more, no less...... ive heard that i would be fine with a 255 warbro, but isnt it supposively really loud?....also ive hear that you can run the accel inline along with the stock pump? will this work?..... i know the best thing is the warbro + accel, but im not going to be going above 5psi so if somebody can let me know what would work and what wont.... i just dont want to buy stuff that i really dont need...thanks, doug

Uh, I have the Walbro. It's not noisy at all and there is NO need to drop the tank to install it. Installation is easy and take about 30 minutes if you're competent. Just yank the back seat, unbolt the cover to the fuel pump, pull it off the carrier and install the new one.

ditto, no need to drop the tank. the walbro will give you a slight humming/whynning noise kind of like if you were on a plane. the inline is louder from what people have said, almost too loud for comfort. If you are only running 5psi the walbro will be more than sufficient.

i use to have the stock pump and the accel inline, it was SO loud. i bought the walbro in-tank for the sole reason to make the accel STFU. the walbro did a pretty good job at that.
i wouldn't use just a walbro if you're keeping the stock injectors. kinda shady IMO. the walbro isn't really designed for 100+ psi of fuel, where the accel in-line can handle it.

so the walbro fuel pump and #30 ford injectors would work well for 5-6psi? ... that's the impression that i'm getting.

or the warbro will work just fine with stock injectors at only 5 psi....

that accel pump was unbearably loud for me.

Combine both a walbro 255 and accel inline and you have an awesome pump setup. Plus the walbro cancels out the noise from the accel.
I've seen this work on 3 different cars exactly the same. It was worth the $100 for the walbro even just to get rid of the jet airplane noise.

so any word on using just the walbro and 30# ford injectors, is that a good setup for 5-6 psi?

You can run 6 psi on a HRC kit on stock injectors with just the in-tank Walbro 255 Hi-press. The max fuel pressure should be in the 80-90 psi range. The pump will be able to flow enough fuel for 6 psi at that fuel pressure. If you ever decide to raise the boost, you will have to modify your fuel system. That is the simplest approach. And the Walbro is not very loud. It does hum, but you will quickly forget about it.

If you decide to go with the inline and the stock FP, a bit of advice. When mounting it, put a piece of rubber between the mounting plate and the pump, it will quiet it dramatically. I used an absorber. I just cut a piece off of it, folded it over twice and put it in between. Cut the noise in half easy.
