do you have an air fuel gauge? its possible you didnt hook up your fuel pump right and are running lean, thats a possibility. then again, you might just need coolant, new thermostat or something a long those lines

he could be running TOO rich and have afterburn creating abnormal heat readings in the manifold?

well I am running lean right now that wa sdone on purpose to lkeep the car cool perhaps fuel is the problem I have no fuel control and I have stock injectors.. Its not a bad reading cuz under the hood iz blazin hot I went tto check my oil to make sure that wasnt the problem and burned my hand on the oil stick thats how hot it was unerthere. do you think 390 injectors and an afc will solve my problem

boom...

there is your problem. running stock injectors. i dont know about anyone else, but when i had stock injectors, i would just to 1600 real quick, and have to shift before 5k. bigger injectors, and a sfmu and a/f gauge will help ya out.

dude, why the hell would you run lean on purpose??? running lean = WAY to much heat. at least run rich and waste gas. you might want to check to make sure your fuel pump is hooked up right, you risk blowing your motor when its improperly tuned.

390 injects is a bit much for the ecu, if i were you i would get 310cc injetcs (30lbers) at 10 psi u should see about 80psi fuel pressure and idle fuel pressure somewhere between 20-25 psi. the AFC is a cheater....i dont like it, so i dont reccomend it. some people like it, and im sure it works ok, just not my thang.

I've had and still do have this problem as well. Here's some of the things I've tried and have worked a little bit.

2.5 catback
FMIC
160 Stat

They definetly helped so that it doesnt reach 1550-1600 as fast. I run it pretty rich (.96-1 WOT) and it's still a bitch on long trips. I'm still on the stock injectors myself. Other guys who run the 30lbs dont seem to have this problem that I do.

I know what you mean about the heat though. I can cook a 4 course meal on my hood after a long trip. :wary

sfmu? sorry Im not familiar with all the lingo yet .. and sorry I ment I was running rich.,, well anyway yea I was in my car tonight driving to manhatten college and I noticed my a/f guage . at idel Im running a little rich and on full throttle buttttt at speeds like 40+ mph as soon as I take my foot off the accelerator it drops to LEANNNN like really bad all the way to the bottom not even budging on the last red mark that there is.. so whats up with that and then every time I accelerate Im fine.. and when I come to a compleate stop it will come off lean and go back to idling alil rich.. HELP?

oh yea I ordred 390 injectors cuz ive heard some bad reviews about falin a little short on the 310s whats HRC recomends.. so I figure a lil bigger ill use an afc and then IM done ill be fine right?

reminde sfmu? dont laugh :rolleyes

vortech sfmu (super fuel management unit)?

anyways, get that bouncy light a/f gauge, and throw it out the window. its usless. dont worry about the deaccelerating part.

because of this thread i decided to change my thermostat.. i tested mine by bioling it in water and it didn't open fully. i put a new one in and my car runs cooler now. i would check your thermostat.

Even with my car running rich, my car would overheat when in the highway. Try wrapping your turbo manifold AND the turbo's hot side (including downpipe) with a header wrap. It will dramatically improve your underhood temps.

I figured that i was overheating on the highway due to the raidiator (still stock one) getting heatsoaked from the turbo.

Now i can drive baltimore to delaware (around 70 miles) without ever overheating. And i also have the 160* thermostat.

I guess I just wanted to get it out of the way. I'm still at 5psi so I figured cooler air is better than more fuel at this point. Injectors are my next upgrade no doubt.
