55554, EVO 3 Turbos instead of the 16g Posted by BigBald, Sep-05-03 03:20 AM
I did a search but didn't find anything. Is this possible to use with ours cars? I was reading that it is a better turbo then both the small 16g and the Big 16g? I am thinking it should mate with the hahn manifold fine but wanted to be sure. THis may be the deciding factor on my next move with this car since i cannot seem to sell it.
TIA as always.....

So will this work with the already exisiting Manifolds or will i need to have one made along with a down pipe?

the hahn super turbos dont use a mitsu flange. the exhuast housing on the hahn super turbos is the same as the garret t3 flange.

Hahn sells an adapter for about $50.00 to bolt the mitsu 7cm flange turbo to a t3. the problem is that it is quite thick. all total with studs (ARP) and nuts it runs abiut $100.00

Yes it is. The EVO 1&2 have TD05 16G turbos with a 7cm wheel. And the EVO 3 has the Big 16G with 7cm wheel. The Evo's have always had 16g turbos. None of them will fit on the HRC manifold easily.

Well I was told that it wasn't the same as either. There are suppose to bne slight differences. So this means i would have to have a manifold made to fit this turbo.....

Just go with the HRC Super 20G. There is less hassle and parts involved. You'll probably have a bigger HP gain too.:thumbsup

I am not looking for HP gains in that sense but more speed. I am not sure about the super 16g, but i have seen where the small 16g outperforms the big 16g. MY Uncerstanding is that the EVO III 16g is supposed to be more efficient then the small 16g. I can of course be wrong with all of this but i don't want a huge turbo is the gains will be minimal. But like i said i just got some good news and i may not need to even turbo this car after all.
