55453, Anyone ordered a custom HRC kit?
Posted by SolarYellowEclipse, Sep-03-03 12:51 PM
I like the dependability of HRC but I like the parts of Star. HAs anyone ordered a turbo setup from HRC piece by piece to get the exact parts that they wanted? If you have or if you tried, please let me know what they said or maybe hook me up with the part numbers that I would need to matter what setup I go with. I would like to get the stage-2 kit but instead get that coated manifold/Super 16G turbo, the 3" Eliminator Jr. downpipe, and the FMIC.

to quickly answer your question...NO. People have ordered kits requesting certian pieces to be left out, ie cartech FPR, boost gauge. and that is the extent that i know about people custom ordering from HRC

I've ordered some things seperately from HRC and they have always been good to me. Nothing like a piece by piece turbo kit though. IMO - give a call, the worst they can say is no.

Just a side note, dont think that HRC offers a downpipe for their 420A turbosystems. I think what you saw was for a 4G63.

Well, that's really gonna stink. :-( I'm really tring to avoid that 2.25" DP. I guess I'll just give em a call today. Thanks guys.

You along with anyone else with an HRC kit tries to avoid or get rid of the crappy DP. If you have not noticed, in the Announcement and Group Buy forum there is an ongoing group buy for a custom one. Motofool is hooking it up. We already have enough people to have them made, but the more people, the cheaper the price. Check it out.

HRC kit parts you want:
Manifold
Downpipe
Turbo
Fuel lines
Fuel pump

HRC kit parts you don't want: (aka stuff I've been forced to replace)
Cartech FPR
Manifold bolts
Boost gauge
Fuel Cut Defencer

Parts you want but don't come in the kit:
Vortech SFMU
Missing Link
Bigger Injectors
EGT gauge
Manifold studs

I got lucky finding cheap used parts and came close to breaking even replacing HRC kit parts. I haven't done the math, but I think just buying what you need from HRC and getting the rest on your own will save you time and money, no matter what your skill level.

If you get a stage 1 kit and tell them to leave out those certain parts is the kit cheaper?

I bought the manifold, turbo, oil line kit, and exhaust flange from them, and the manifold and turbine housing is ceramic coated. I didn't want there kit, but I love the shit I got from them. I'm getting the 2.5" downpipe from Motofool and all the rest of the shit from various places. So, yes. I think you can get things piece by piece if you ask for it. :thumbsup

For all that stuff, including the ceramic coating and EGT bung I think it was just below $1200 shipped.

Shit.......Alot. I thought about posting a complete list of all the things needed but I keep ending up adding to it everyday, so I don't know if a complete list could be make. I'm doing all the extras also, so that might be why I keep adding shit.
