55397, Need better clutch for high boost.

As some of you already know, my car is undergoing a complete overhaul. New fully built engine, shooting for 18psi daily. I am obviously going to need to upgrade me clutch. What stage clutch am I going to need? Is the aluminum flywheel really worth the extra money? I mean I've seen the aluminum flywheel clutch combos go upwards of 800.00! Is it worth it? Where is the cheapest place to get this awesome clutch? Thanks guys.

clutchmasters stage 4. supposely it will hold ALL the power you put down to it. however, i hear that they will wear out in less than 40,000 miles. talk to JustOne, i think he has a lot of experence with this clutch.

I got a spec stage 3 from nippon power for $450, it has a standard steel flywheel. I think the best way to go if you want a lighter flywheel is to convert to a non-modular or buy an aluminum flywheel with no starter teeth (modular style) and take it to a clutch shop to have them build it. they could make you a clutch plate and use your stock pressure plate and the aluminum flywheel. then you could bolt that up to the stock flex plate. Talk to Matt_95tgs i think he has a similar setup he had built by a good shop out his way.

the url is: http://nipponpower.com/ if you care

I have the ClutchMasters stage 4 w/lightened flywheel. I does hold very well and does so IMMEDIATELY. A little chatter but you can get used to that and even get good at not making it chatter so much when you get used to it. I think that the flywheel is worth it.

It does NOT last as long as a traditional clutch ( stock ) but then again nothing performance oriented last as long as anything stock.
It may be more expensive in the beginning, but to replace non-modular stage 4 when necessary ends up being cheaper than replacing the modular style setup.

Check into the SPEC clutches. I know they are cheaper, but have had ZERO personal experience with them.

DO NOT get a Centerforce!!!

Good luck man!
