55383, Hypothetically Speaking... Posted by MmmDeion, Sep-02-03 04:15 PM
This is all hypothetically speaking: ;) Lets say i know "someone" (of course not myself) that just bought an MBC from ebay (for an exact amount of $18.25 or so) and installed it on his 97 Eclipse GS (with a star stage 2)... And hypothetically the spring, ball, and screw all "blew off" the top of the MBC (creatin a huge ass vaccum leak)... And, hypothetically, he boosted 10psi... Is there anythin wrong with this, or can the screw\ball\spring stay out of the MBC with any harms... This, of course, causes a vaccum leak, but does it do anythin else (turbo lag, rich\lean)? Of course though this never happened, its all "hypothetical"... :thumbsup
(I guess u get what u pay for)

i would think that you would not have a boost limiter and could end up running too high of boost.. better safe than sorry, get a new mbc.

The point of a mbc is to make it so that the Wastegate doesn't see boost untill a certain point (the psi you set it at). So If there is a vacume leak then I would presume that you will boost untill you cant boost anymore and BOOM! Nick 97RS
