55327, Confused about fuel pump, fpr, and fmu Posted by lickscissors, Sep-01-03 03:43 PM
Im looking to turbo my eclipse....ive got everything else under control except for the fuel..... now i plan on ONLY going 5psi...i dont plan to go above that, im getting the 14b....i know i need a new pump, my first question is, will the 255 pump be a direct replacement for my stock pump other than wiring it...... do i need the accel inline, or is that just for higher boost applications...... now do i only need the cartech fmu, or do i need a fpr.... ive seen so many different opionions but i would really appreciate it if you let me know how long youve been running your application, what you have, how its worked, how much boost.....thanks in advance doug

i would just get an inline and ditch the intank pump, i would get a vortech sfmu
if you get those two items, youre fuel setup will be perfect for the future, except for of course injectors.. but you can run up to 10lbs of boost on stock injectors.

i have a cartech i could sell you for $75 bux
otherwise, i personally would only run with the sfmu

10 pounds on 190cc injectors? (stock) i was running way lean at higher rpm's with 7psi. i got rid of stockies real quick. now with 30#ers i go wot 7psi and get egt's of 1400.
oh, and btw, the walbro 255 is a direct replacment as long as you buy it for an fwd eclipse (95-99) no wiring changes needed.

I thought stock injectors was 235's, the Neons run 190's.

send me an email, or leave your email address..... it wont allow me to email you (about the cartech).....did you have problems with it, or do you just prefer the vortech...... someone said that they reccomend an inline fuel pump, what kind do you reccomend, or could i just go with the warlbro 255.... thanks

I think the walbro 255 is good for at least 8 psi. Its a direct intank replacement, you just have to modify the mount because its a bit taller. Its really easy to install. I would go with the walbro and install an inline down the road if you need more fuel. For a custom turbo setup your going to have to remove the stock fpr and run a return line from your new fpr to the return nip on the tank. The hrc kits taps into the fuel sending line where the stock fpr is. You could just install the walbro and couple the sending line back togeather where the stock fpr is when you remove it. I don't like the cartech, and you wont either. unless you like adjusting your fuel pressures every time you start your car.

what if you dont have a stock fpr....my fuel rail has the regulator built in it which means that there is no return line.....at least thats how i see it...does this mean i just create my own return line?

wow, im completely confused now... some are saying that the warlbro will work up to 8psi (intake pump only) and some are saying to just keep the stock fuel pump and get an accel inline.... can i hear back from people that run either of these...remember im going to stay at only 5psi...no more... thanks
