We are building a backyard turbo setup for a Galant. We are using a T-25 turbo with manual boost controller. We are using a factory actuator wastegate. We cannot get the boost down below 10psi. It constantly stays at 10psi with manual boost controller turned all the way down.
Question:

Do I need to use an external waste gate to run 5-7psi boost?

Is there anyway to get the boost down?(There is a 3 inch turbo back exhaust that cannot be changed out)

Can you change out the wastegate spring? I don't know if you can with internals, that's why I'm asking. If you can, the spring might be too strong. That's my only guess. You could also just take the MBC out to eliminate that as a possible source of the problem.

But you are out of gas! The only ways are as you mentioned.
1. Go to a external wastegate.
2. Find a lower setting wastegate for the t-25 (I am not sure there is one) and change it out.
The boost controller will only allow you to raise the boost level past the wastegate stting, and not lower it. :( sorry!

try removing the boost controller all-together and running a vaccuum hose from the compressor housing (if it has a nipple) or straight from the manifold to the wastegate actuator. if it still does it, Try finding a weaker actuator (I think the actuator for the 2G is like a 7 psi actuator or something like that.)

there is noway you can go any lower than the WG spring rate (in your case it's 10 psi)

I think they only real solution for your problem is either getting external WG, or just buy another turbo with 5 psi WG spring rate.
