5508, for you turbo gurus.................... Posted by eclipsekaiser, May-23-01 05:16 PM
Okay as some of you know that my Gf might be buying a spyder GST. My question is that how come the engine make this loud ticking sound when at idle. I know it's not the injectors because I know how they sound. So what can it be??? valves? what do you guys think? the thing sounds like a tractor. Oh by the way, the stock t-25 sucked big ass on the top end. it does spool hella quick. I'll be looking forward to buying the NER kit for mine. thanx guys...!

Most 4g63's sound like that, it's just lifter tick. An oil change will quiet it down some.

No clue, they just all seem to do it. Try searching for it on DSM talk. I've read things like type of oil or oil filter.

LAST EDITED ON 24-May-01 AT 12:04 PM (PST)When I switched to Synthetic oil (5W 30) I had a ticking at idle. I put in 10w 30 and the noise stopped, try a thicker oil for ahwile.
