54927, high idle problems, give suggestions on my info please =) Posted by siueclipse, Aug-27-03 11:58 AM
Ok.. right now my car sometimes idles at around 120rpm, other times it will idle normal.. if i turn the AC on, it idles at 1800 rpm. Im not sure what it could be but let me tell you what i have modified or not modified that might be causing a problem...
I swapped a throttle body and sensors from a 96 eclipse NT, cause mine was broken.
I removed all the EGR crap, but i don't hear any leaks.
I don't have the check valve on the sfmu yet. (you know the stuff you need to hook up from the cartech fmu).
I dont have any vacuum leaks that i can hear.
I have removed my cruise control, including the vacuum box that bolts to the back of the motor.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I know the sfmu check valve situation might be causing it, but I was just wondering if anyone else had any ideas.
Thanx in advance. James

probably not melted wires since u took out egr but u could check that.... also check your oil level, if its too low it will idle high. that happened to me a couple weeks ago, i added a half a quart and everything was good. you could also check your throttle body gasket, if u didnt buy a new one when u swapped the TB's, it could be leaking there.

what size injectors are you running becuase when you run really rich your car will idle a bit high sometimes.

If you have the bleed valve attached to the S-FMU, but not the check valve, then you may have a vacuum leak. The check valve basically keeps pressure from leaking into the S-FMU through the bleed valve. Or maybe you have a leaking gasket in the intake manifold or TB. Or one of the sensors on the TB is hosed. Or, you have a leak at the EGR block-off plate on the intake manifold. All that stuff can create a high idle.
