My car is not running right. When i take off in first the turbo spools up to 7psi at about 3000rpm and then it feels as if the turbo stops spooling and i get like a feeling that the car is holding back, then in 2 it is the same except when i get into higher rpms it starts bogging and sputtering and thye same in 3rd gear. The turbo was a used T3 turbo and it just doesn't run right. I have the sfmu with the 2.72 disk in it, my fuel gauge that is connected to it just wiggles the needle and will not adjust. Also, do i have to adjust the vacuum screw on the side of the sfmu or just the static screw on top for the idle pressure. I am so lost with why it runs like shit, i am buying a T3/T4 turbo in two weeks. I live close to savannah, i am willing to dirve up to north georgia to try and see if someone can help me with this problem, just let me know who lives in georgia.

Does this mean you have no idea what fuel pressure you're running at? Or do you? If you do, what fuel pressure you see at idle? How about at 7 psi boost?

EDIT: also, what size injectors are you using?

I have no clue what my fuel pressures, i am tuning blind, i think that i am getting a different gauge, i got the little gauge from b&m that is made for the gst, but i have it connected to be able or supposed to read my pressures. If only i could get that fixed, then may be i could get it running right.

I WILL BET MONEY THAT YOU DONT HAVE ENOUGH FUEL PRESSURE. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU DONT TRY BOOSTING UNTIL YOU CAN GET ENOUGH FUEL. DO YOU HAVE AN INLINE PUMP OR JUST AN IN TANK PUMP. WHAT IS HAPPENING IS YOU ARE LEANING WAY THE FUCK OUT AND YOU WILL PROBABLY END UP DAMAGING YOUR ENGINE REALLY BAD IF YOU DONT FIX IT. WHEN I FIRST PUT MY KIT ON I HAD A HIGH FLOW IN TANK PUMP THAT I THAUGHT WOULD BE ENOUGH FOR THE TURBO. TURNS OUT IT WASNT AND I HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM YOU HAVE. I INSTALLED THE IN LINE PUMP AND NO PROBLEM, BUT LIKE A MONTH LATER WITH NO WARNING A ROD FLEW THROUGH MY BLOCK AND I THINK IT MUST HAVE BEEN BENT OR CRACKED FROM ALL OF THE DETONATION WHEN I FIRST INSTALLED THE KIT.

you definately want to get a fuel pressure gauge. don't drive your car until you do. if your bottom end is stock, you could have already damaged it.

what kind of fuel injectors do you have?

I have 30lb injectors with an in-tank walbro fuel pump. At idle my pressure is at around 20-25, but when i try to read the pressure at wot, it doesn't go higher than 30, it just looks like it sticks there. I have the 2.72 disk in the sfmu now. |When at wot, my a/f gauge reads all the way rich,, but my pressures don't go past 30 so i don't understand.

Sound slike your SFMU is giving you any more fuel pressure under boost. You do have a vaccum/boost line running to it.. right?

I have the top barb that connects a vacuum line from the top of the sfmu to the intake manifold, thats all i got connected besides the return line to the tank and the line to the fuel rail from the side port.

This maybe dumb....but could it be the FCD?

YOU NEED THE IN LINE PUMP. I HAD THE SAME SET UP AS YOU AND TRIED IT WITH JUST THE IN TANK PUMP, IT DID NOT WORK, I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND I THINK IT DESTROYED MY ENGINE.

I will buying the fuel pump this week, thanks, hopefully thats it.

ALSO WHAT KIT DO YOU HAVE. DO YOU HAVE THE FUEL CUT DEFENSER LIKE ASKED ABOVE. IF YOU DO NOT THAT VERY WELL COULD BE THE PROBLEM. OUR MAP SENSORS DO NOT LIKE TO SEE BOOST, SO YOU WILL NEED EITHER THE LITTLE BLACK BOX TYPE OR THE MISSING LINK.

You don't need another fuel pump with 30# injectors.

Is it just me or is a 2.72 disk to low for 30LB injectors? I thought they were using like 8:1 disks with the 30 LB injectors...

The 2.72" disc does put you a couple of PSI short of the optimal 55 psi you'd want to be at. I'm assuming the ECU can easily trim out a 2-3 psi deficit.

I have the missing link already installed, it is a custom setup with a t3 turbo, i am going to buy another fuel gauge and see if it runs alright. i am probably moving out to another apartment next week and i am going to be getting the srt-4 if i cannot get everything running right, thanks for all the replies.
