I did my homework on ventin my HKS SSQV BOV, and found mixed shit about it... Well I decided, what the hell, and vented my BOV... First things first, engine runs BETTER than before... Less lag, sounds better (no bov wise, exhaust wise), and it a lot quicker... Does that make any sense whatsoever, because Ive read it was gonna do the opposite? Second, the sound really sucks ass... Im only pushin 6 psi right now, not intercooled, so maybe that has somethin to do with it.... Just postin whats been goin on with this whole ventin situation, am I crazy?

that's only for people with a MAF (mass air flow sensor). our cars run off of a MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor. the GST and GSX have MAF sensors. when air flows into the intake it's measured by the MAF sensor. if it gets vented to the atmosphere when you shift, the A/F ratio will be off b/c there is now more fuel than necessary (the amount of fuel was calculated before the air was vented). to prevent this problem, the air must be vented back into the intake rather than the atmosphere.
with our cars the A/F ratio is calculated using the pressure in the manifold itself. when air is vented to the atmosphere it makes no difference b/c that air has not gone into the manifold yet and thus plays no part in calculating the A/F ratio. you could vent it back into the intake on our cars but it wouldn't make much of a difference.

I have heard that venting it back into the intake helps keep the turbo spooling better during shifts. even though our cars don't need to do this. can anyone confirm this?

That's incorrect. Engines with a MAP sensor need to vent to the atmosphere for optimum performance.

Venting back into the intake tube will help keep a turbo spooled. Best to dump it right before the turbo, directionally aimed into the compresser wheel. It has shown a .1-.2 second 1/4 mile difference in VPC equipped 4G63s. It should make the same difference with us. -=B-=

Wait, Im confused... Dumping what right before the turbo? The vaccum line from the intake manifold (or BOV)... Explain...

They are saying to run a hose from the bov outlet to the intake and point it at the compressor wheel so when you vent the rush of air gives the turbine a little kick to get it goin. Hope this helps.
