I'm looking for a boost controller. I have definitely ruled out using a manual one. So I'm looking at the electronic ones.

What do you guys think are good electronic boost controllers (do not consider money as an issue)? Pros and Cons for each.

Currently I'm leaning towards an HKS EVC IV. Has lots of nice features, lo boost, high boost, scramble. Has "fuzzy" logic to "learn" the boost curve and improve boost response (how the heck would it do that?). And it can be had for about $250ish now days.

Profec B ... always a good bet.

AVC-R ... don't know much about it.

I like my Profec-B; granted, it is the only EBC I've used. I've found it easy to use and reliable. I think SCC did a EBC test a while back and gave the Profec-B high marks. Thats all I can say.

i don't really like the fuzzy logic ones. they do weird things IMO. i don't want my boost controller to have a mind of it's own. i want it to be stupid and do exactly what i tell it to do.

i almost bought the profec-b along with the steering wheel activated low/high boost switch thingy. for some reason i ended up getting the Blitz EVC Spec-S. i posted a review of it on the main site a while back. i really like it a lot.

mounts just about anywhere. i used the double sided sticky tape provided with the kit to mount it under the dash.


knobs are fun


boost nobulator thingy modulator unit dongle with blue tubes connecting things (used to be mounted on the cam angle sensor, but i took it off because of the magnetic field it was producting interfered with the cam angle sensor resulting in really weird things happening)

i like the profec-b

very simple and reliable so far

also fit nicely where the ash tray use to be



i agree w/ ner on the fuzzy logic thing, think its more trouble than it worth. i like having the boost i want, as soon as possible, and all the way to redline. i dont need a boost curve.

HKS EVC EZ. There is a reason why it's called "EZ". Very simple. I have never had any issues with it. And as far as I could tell no boost spike. Has two buttons. One to turn on and off. The other to adjust boost. That's it. No numbers on the unit, cause you should always go by a gauge to be safe and nothing else to mess with. It's now discountinued but if you find a good used unit, you should be set. :D

just curious, but why not a manual one? whats the difference other than u can adjust it in the car? is it better for boost spike/fade?
