54105, Walbro fuel pump and sfmu?
Posted by sd240, Aug-15-03 07:47 PM
I'm planning on going turbo in the future, but right now all i have is a short ram intake. I was wondering if it would be ok to install a Walbro intank fuel pump and a vortech SFMU and just tune it all down until i get the turbo? I tried the search function, but it seems like everybody disagrees about what should be done. I think it would be very helpful to noobs like me if somebody did a write up on fuel systems, and the "best" setups. Seems to me like the fuel delivery system is the most complicated aspect of going turbo, I think once I get that straightened out things should be easier. Let me know if I'm sounding really dumb and/or if i'm on the wrong track. Thanks.

i have the walbro in now with it n/a. its fine. and if you run the whole turbo fuel system (pump, fmu, returnline.) it should be ok as long as you tune the fmu down to stock reg. i have the s-sfm so i turned the psi down to 50. give it a go. i dunno

Thanks, that's what I needed to know. Now is that all I'm going to need for about 6-7psi(at first). At what point do the stock injectors become useless? Thanks again.

Stock injectors become useless above 0 psi of boost... I'm sure theres going to be a hundred people including Bill Hahn Jr. himself disagree... but there is just no point in running such insane fuel pressures when our injectors are pretty cheap.

you can use the stock injectors upto around 8 psi. but any more and the fuel presuure gets upto like 120 psi. thats no good. just buy some 30lbers (310cc) and then you will see lowwer pressures.
