well.... (venting) i have decided that i, jezreel supetran suck at being a wannabe mechanic. for the turbo install, i decided to start with the heat shield removal. after THREE HOURS OF FRUSTRATION (and only three bolts removed), i began to hack the shield apart. needless to say i accidentally, and apparantly hit something vital to the radiator fan and now, my FUCKING passenger side fan will not work!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i am taking this as a sign to give up. my friggin hands are bleeding from trying to get this bolts to come loose, i give up!!!!!!!!!!!!
who wants a turbo kit? FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ]
that's it i am going to sleep and for now on, i will focus on college, lifting weights, girls, and no more car crap!

Dude don't waste 9 months of learning. Spray the bolts in WD40 or PB Blaster. However if you do give up, sell the turbo to me :) I have the funds for it. I'm in So-Cal too.

i tried and sprayed wd 40 like 50 times (i am not kidding you). i think i might sell it though.... especially if my fan is fucked up.
you got dibs and at least we don't have to pay for shipping.
i leave for college with in a month (sep 13) the turbo is going somewhere, whether my car or someone elses.

thanks for the good wake up call dwanye. i'll try again.
urgh!!!! sorry i am just pissed, thats all. i am not a person who usually gives up.
i just didn't need the passenger side fan to be broken right now-how much if anyone knows?
stage one btw with a 1g smic waiting to be put on, which right now is obviously on hold.
how the hell did you guys get the manifold bolt out? theres like NO room whatsoever to get the bottom ones.
on a side note, my heat shield kinda reminds my in terminator 2, the scene where the terminator gets shot in the stomach and is split open in the middle.

dude. if you installed the fuel setup everything else is cake.. its easy just takes time.. if you can't remove a few bolts try asking around for a air compressor if needed.. it just takes time and a open week or two if needed.. but really if you complete the fuel setup the rest should be easy man. cool Michael 99gs HRC Stage IV 8-Injector Setup 2GNT Member #32

THANKS GUYS, I feel the 2gnt lov.
air compressor huh? tell me more. where can i get this, what tools to get the fucking manifold bolts and oil pan off for these air tools. vice grips aren't really cutting it here.
the the rest should be easy. i KNOW WHAT TO DO. i know where the oil pressure sensor is and crap. just taking the oil and manifold off is a lot harder when i only have my hands and when asking a mechanic for help (i pay them of couse) to get these off, they give you a bullshit reason since they friggin can't understand english. -------jezreel

heres my suggestion for the manifold, and heat shield. I used an array of extensions, and deep sockets to get in all the hard to reach places. also, it helps to have a nice sized breaker bar type thing (eg HUGE WRENCH), because if you are trying to got some of those bolts with a regular ratchet, it most likely wont happen. and regular wrenches help to get in small places, so if you need a lot of torque, take note of the sizes you need, and go get some long ones for the extra power.
don't give up man. think about how many people never even get to where you are at now. many people on here would love to be in your shoes right now, so just take your time, and go for it.

Becareful not to hurt yourself with the breaker bar. I've done it a few times x(

Air tools! I also agree with CopperEclipse. Get some torque and you'll be installing in no time. You could always just take your wrench and slide a huge piece of steel tubing over the handle for extra torque, providing you can still get to the place you need.

honestly, I think removing the stock exaust manifold was the hardest part when I installed my kit. It took me an entire day! I used a lot of PB and a torch. It's hard to get a good sized breaker bar in there... Heat those bolts up!

don't give up man, I could not get all the bolts off the heatshield either so i just cut the sucker off! all you need to do is get it out of the way enough to be able to get at the exhaust manifold bolts. don't get worked up over that.. you still have the down pipe bolts at the cat to do. hehe those I had to cut off with a sawzall hehehe. keep at it you will the end result is worth it! :)
