53825, Anyone have a problem with overheating after you put on your fmic?
Posted by Axewhlder, Aug-11-03 07:49 AM
My problem is since I put on my spearco and I drive the car alot on the highway the temps really start shooting up. Around town it's fine and is at normal operating temps. The spearco really isnt all that huge. It fits nicely in the front of my avenger. Still it seems like my radiator isnt getting any air. I've seen guys with larger FMIC's and I never heard of them mention overheating or anything. Any ideas?

You know, typically cars overheat in town, and cool off at highway speeds... could try a colder thermostat.

Yea, I know. That's the wierd part. Only thing I can figure is on long trips when I'm kicking at around 1450-1500 deg EGT's the heat stays under the hood longer creating alot of heat. With the FMIC up there it cant get as much air into the radiator to cool it off. I never had this problem with Stage I.

I overheated twice in the beginning of summer. It doesnt help that AZ daily temps are 110+. I just flushed my cooling sytem and i havent overheated since.

I've never had a problem with either a starion or my new streetimports front mount. Only time I did, it was due to a bad thermostat.

Ive also never had an overheating problem due to the fmic. Only time ive had overheating problem was due to a rad cap that wasnt holding pressure.

Shit. Well I guess it's time to start looking at some things. It's just wierd that it only happens on the highway..

my overheating was due to thermostat and shit backed up in the overflow tank. I thought it was the FMIC at first, too.
