I have 2 CEL's, but not really related to the turbo(well sort of). I have the EGT flow code(did the EGR blockoff), and also a EVAP gross leak code. That is from some EVAP diaphram thing under the gas tank. There is a small rubber diaphram in those that like to tear when boost pressure is put on them..But thats it for CEL's. The light's always on..i pretty much ignore it now anyway.

I had a cel for my nonexistant egr but I pulled the bulb out so I could pass inspecton. I dont know how she passed but she did so im good till 05'

no evap...no cat...no egr...no cel

Had a CEL for about 3 weeks after turbo was installed, I managed to foul the o2 sensor running it pretty rich. It was the original o2 that came on the car so it was past time to change it anyways. Changed it out and no CEL since.

I have EGR and no cat cel, But i havent seen the CEL in months because i got my motor out! :o

evap CEL, SAFC CEL, cat CEL. IMO if you don't have a CEL and you're not a 95, then you're car is slow. ha.

I've had my car turboed for about a year now and no check engine light. About every four months, I do get a check engine light related to the EGR valve (I am not running the block off plate). I have taken the valve off and looked at it but it seemed fine to me. I may have a clog in a vacuum line or the EGR line. No matter, I reset the ecu and it is gone for another four months.

Hopefully, with the new engine being put in the car in about 3 weeks or so, I can take a better look at it and clean it out. I hope not to add any new check engine lights :).

how do you reset the ECU? just disconnect the battery? wont you just get enother cel once you disconnect the battery, that one where you disconnected your battery within the last 50 key cycles or something?

No, you will not get another CEL light after removing the Negative Battery terminal for 30 seconds.

However, if you got another check engine light and perform the key dance procedure to check what numbers the light represent, it will flash the code showing that the power to the ECU has been interrupted in the last 50 key cycles. You will not get a check engine light for disconnecting the battery.

Same here. I'm still amazed. Only CEL I ever got was when I was tuning her out on some country roads and got some pretty nasty bucking when transitioning into boost. Got myself a missing link and no problems since. Oh, and the code disappeared that night.

i got one shortly after for an o2 sensor but that was my own dumb fualt

I got 2 once put the turbo on. The gross air thingy, and another. They disappeared for about a week once I installed the ML, but now they are back. I'm not sure if I have 1 or 2 now, and I haven't bothered to check them out either ..... I kinda missed my CEL when it was off x( I'd like to figure out what they are and correct them if possible. I'm pulling the engine soon though, so I won't bother with them for now ... car runs great!

what about removing the positive battery terminal? would that cause the 12 code?

Since I've alwaaaays had the CEL for EVAP, I totally disconnected the system from my intake manny and throttle body. At the same time, I block off my EGR. Weirdly now after doing that, I only get a CEL for the EGR. The Evap one is now gone! :wary

i've been thinking about completely removing the EVAP system too. exactly what does it do? some type of EPA crap?

More or less, it contains gas fumes and prevents them from venting into the atmosphere.

I've started to throw some randome o2 related codes but thats my fualt and not the turbo's. (again)

the evap code deal 455.. are you guys refering the the safety valve ( roll over valve ) within the gas tank? or something else? i always thought it was the roll over valve within the gas tank?

There are sensor's inside the gas tank?? ShIT! i took my gas tank out all together and using a fuel cell.... So i guess if a check engine light comes on during safety and inspection im screwed?? interesting...

I have had CEl codes for such a long time now but I took the bulb out cause I was tired of looking at it.
