53272, Which plugs to run for 70-shot nitrous? Posted by SolarYellowEclipse, Aug-03-03 05:55 PM
I'm currently running a set of NGK Platinums... I think. They're the ones that you aren't supposed to gap. Are these going to be fine for a 70-shot of nitrous that will be direct ported? If I should go with a hotter or colder plug, please suggest a set and try to be specific... I don't know a whole lot about plugs. :( Thanks guys.
PS: If anyone can help me with my stupid signature picture, it would be greatly appreciated! When I put the link in, the pic shows up in the "My Info" section but then never shows up in my posts.

i run the zex triple grounded nitrous plugs, they're recommended for anything over a 50 shot, i've never detonated or had a problem w/them:thumbsup

You are supposed to run COLDER plugs for nitrous. I have a 75 wet shot and use NGK plugs. OEM, but 2 steps colder. I have heard that platinum and iridium are bad, but don't quote me on that.

Platinum is bad because the coating can flake off at high temps, Iridium is real good but expensive. But with just a 70 shot the stock range plugs are fine, trust me. We already have a colder range plug than most. All your going to promote with a colder range plug is more plug fouling. I've been running stock range ngk's for over a year while spraying a 75 shot, and no problems.

Well, do you think I should drop down to the regular NGK plugs or just use these Platinums or whatever they are?

You'll be fine with the stock NGK plugs with that shot. Platinums are a no no with nitrous. Iridiums are ok but there expensive and you really dont need them, but if you got money to blow, then go with the iridiums.
