53216, need help with external wastegate
Posted by 420aturbo, Aug-02-03 01:12 PM
I have a Tial external waastegate. When the car is sitting at idle or anytime for that matter, there is a exhaust leak. It comes from the wastegate exhaust outlet. I know it's coming from there because I put a towel in front of it and it quites.

Isn't the wastegate supposed to remain totally closed until the proper vaccum is reached? There are 2 hole on the wastegate. One on the very top which I left open and the other on the side. The one on the side has a vaccum line running to the intake manifold.

I would simply like to know why the wastegate valve is opening and closing at when the car is turned on.

how do you have it hooked up? if its got a vac line running directly to it, then it will be sucked open...

that might be enough to pull the gate open....is there a place to hook the line on the turbo? if not you can get a MBC and route it -WG->BC->manifold
