Is anyone using Howell's ECU? I'm asking for a friend of mine without a computer thats running a 99 eclipse gs, rebuilt block, hrc kit at about 12psi. He called Howell because his ECU took a shit and is looking for a replacement. The guy he talked to said it should work great for a turbo 420A but he wanted some input from the board. Tia.

i only think 1 person is running the howell ecu w/ turbo and i think that's armond. personally, i would just get a normal ecu. the howell unit makes horsepower mostly from it's timing advance, and that's something you really want to avoid when turbo.

I know of someone who runs the Howell ECU on a r/t neon, he claims the car runs excellently.. however, he is now on a 3rd block

420a and ej20... both with boost

What 97eclipseRS said ^^^, the Howell ECU advances timing and leans fuel, both no nos on a turbo-equipped vehicle. From what I understand, Armond has a ton of money in his car and is fairly apt at tuning. I would only run a turbo and Howell ECU if you had extensive control over both fuel and timing AND were very comfortable with tuning, otherwise you are asking for trouble IMO.
