53102, sfmu install goes horribly wrong...HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!! (semi rant/advice needed) Posted by jsupetran, Jul-31-03 08:42 PM
rant begins...
okay, first off, i unbolt the stock fuel pressure reg and filter. but, when i remove the the supply line (from the fuel tank) from the fuel filter the bolts the two would not budge. same thing with the filter line to hardline. so after one hour, i hacksaw those two s.o.b.s and deburr the edges. then i use hose clamps and the fuel hose (in between this is the fuel filter) to attache the supply line into the hard line. problem solved right?
wrong, second of all i start the car when everything is attached, it starts, great right? NO the supply hard line coming from the fuel tank at the service port in the passenger seat is leaking MAJOR FUEL!!! everytime i start the car.
to top this all, i had problem with connecting the ss lines to the AN fittings where the ss lines would get frayed. i'm going tomorrow and i'm getting an the inch hacked and so i can finally get done with sfmu engine bay connections!
....................................................................
rant over
so my question is, from the hard hard supply line coming from the fuel tank where the bolt is leaking fuel, i am thinking of replacing the fuel supplyline that screws onto the solid supply fittings with reg fuel hose with three clamps on it?

Double hose clamp it. TIGHT.
I kept the factory screw-in fitting on there though. Sometimes you need a little penetrating oil and a hammer :)

that is what I did as you can see in the pic. took off the stock supply line that goes to the fuel filter and replaced it with a regular line that is cut in half for the aftermarket fuel filter to go in. and joined it with the SS line under the car using a hose barb. Those s/s AN hose end fittings are hard to get in.. make sure to mark the hose where the fitting should stop at so that the hose does not get "pushed" out when putting the fitting in and you don't find out until it leaks.

thanks guys, i am off to continue this project. final question, does fuel actually go into the sfmu in the engine bay? seem like an obvious question. -------jezreel
