52806, Which disk to use in SFMU for 16psi?
Posted by Strauss, Jul-28-03 02:00 AM
Well, like the title says, I need to know which disk to run for ~16psi with the S16G. I have 440cc injectors and I bought the disk kit from Vortech. I do have an AFC for fine tuning, just need to know what I should be aiming at for fuel pressure...thanks guys!

Using the appropriate formulas from Corbin's website, I figure you need to make about 69 psi of fuel pressure at 16 psi. This is also based on a figure of about 300HP at 16 psi of boost.

Your car may very well make more HP than that though at 16 psi.

So, assuming your idle will be close to 20 psi so you can sustain some sort of normal idle, you need to compensate for about 50 psi of pressure in 16 psi. That's about a 3.125:1 ratio. With that said, you need the disk/ring set that accounts for that fuel/boost ratio.

You can redo the formula for your car if you think your car will make more HP.

Here's Corbin's example:

(Just fill in your Horsepower estimate at 16 psi above)

(Fill in 16 psi above versus the "9 psi", and the 440cc injector size instead of the 370cc injectors, that's there right now)

I'm planing on runing 15psi on 440's also.
I have the sfmu and have the smallest disk in it. i believe is the 2.2" or something like that. and I had to set the idle fuel press at like 11-12 psi.

Ok, I think I will hopefully be making more than 300hp at the crank this year. So I figure, I'll go with appx. a 4:1 ratio disk. Now for the big question, how the hell do I tell what disk is what??? Thanks for the speedy replies guys!

You know, i would run close to around 15-20 psi at idle, and use the SAFC to fine tune that, cause it will run rich even with that idle fuel pressure with the 440's. Then, use the 2.72" disk, and bleed valve on the SFMU, with long silver spring. That disk should give you plenty of fuel pressure to work with, and the bleed valve will give you the adjustment to tune down that disk's rise rate, if you run too rich..I always like haveing plenty of fuel pressure to work with..that's why i like using the bleed valve..
