52502, 6:1 or 8:1 recalibration kit for the Vortech FMU on 10psi??? Posted by davo345, Jul-22-03 08:04 AM
i am reading reports that people are replacing the disk in their FMU to 8:1 ratio for a not-so-rich fuel ratio on 30lb / 310cc injectors. but a few of them are saying they are STILL running rich...could this be that the 8:1 ratio disk is only rated for 24lb injectors??? i think so. so if this were the case would a 6:1 ratio disk be a better choice for 310cc injectors? check it out:

I don't know much about turboing this engine since I just bought my eclipse. But when I was doing researchfor the turbo in my Paseo I found out that Vortech used a 12:1 setting on it's supercharged Civic SI. Given that, and the fact that you're running only 10 PSI, I would say the 8:1 would be fine. The best way to know for sure would be to go to their application pages and find a vehicle running similar boost with similar compression.

use the 8:1 disk with 30lb injectors to run 10psi. 6:1 will be too lean at the higher RPM's. just ask DeanoD, he ran the 6:1 at first, then switched to the 8:1 i believe. just a little info here...dont expect to run the 30lber's with just the FMU(no SAFC or SFMU) and not be REAL rich in boost, and part-throttle driving especially. my advice would be to sell your FMU, and put down the 290 bucks for a SFMU and then you can run up to 440's without any other type of fuel management "required".

interesting...i will have to consider that when i get the money for sfmu. but for now without any boost controller at 7 psi (i think that is what the star actuator is set at?) i assume the fmu will be sufficient and at 12:1?

On stock injectors, i wouldnt run over 5psi to be safe, unless my engine was built. or i had the 2k laying around for a rebuild. thats just me though.

so what happens when you throw a SAFC into the mix? I'm really considering getting one of these because my fuel ratio is really wack right now. I'm running 10:1 on stock injectors and I get full rich at WOT but at partial throttle low boost I lean out sometimes. Now I tried it with a 8:1 on stock injectors and it was still pretty rich in lower gears but it was perfect ratio at like 4th or 5th gear at WOT. But it would lean out easily at partial throttle low boost. I'm guessing this is the point where I should be investing in a SAFC to fine tune all this stuff. ARRGHH I hate messing with fuel!

there is no reason why you would have to change disks with the stock fuel injectors
