52293, Gauging Interest in a SMIC Kit

For all of you that are designing your own custom turbo kits or have a Hahn / Star Non-Intercooled kit, I have been thinking of making a side mount intercooler kit. Heres what it would consist of:

Full Mandrel Bent Piping
1G Side Mount Intercooler
1G or 3KGT Blow-Off Valve

It would include all the necessary silicone connectors, rubber hoses, clamps, etc. Basically you wouldnt need to buy anything other than the kit in order to upgrade your turbocharged non intercooled car.

The piping could be made in any size you chose. I havent yet decided on the basic pipe size, it will probably be 2.25" or 2.5", with larger piping costing a little bit more. A 1G or 3kGT BOV will come with the kit. It can be flanged/made for any turbochager you want. Right now I can make them for a t-25, 14b, any 16g, or the t3. Im not sure which one will be included, but it will be on a basis of availability and price. Obviously the intercooler itself and the BOV wont be new, but they'll be tested and cleaned to be in 100% working order.

Everything in the kit can be upgraded to anything you want, it would just cost more.

Im not sure of the cost yet, but I can tell you that it will be significantly lower than trying to make your own or buying one from Hahn or Star or whoever makes them. I need to gauge interest in this kit to see if its feasable for me to actually start getting something together. Post up your comments concerns and questions and let me know what you think. Thanks!

i did this with my stage 2 upgrade, i just got a part number for a 10psi actuator from mitsu (100 bucks) and got custom bigger intercooler pipes and modified 2g intercooler (400) so total upgrade to a stage 2 was like 500 bucks, pretty good when hahn charges 800 something for smaller pipes (better intercooler but o well)

its a good idea fellas, jump on it

You are going to run into a few problems with this idea. Firstly, the physical position of the turbocharger is going to vary from one turbo car to another. How would you work with that issue? I'm sure people are using quite a few different manifold/turbo combinations around here... you could have endless different combiations and still have someone that it won't work for. My advice on this... make 3 different kits. One for a Hahn upgrade, one for Star Upgrade, and a universal kit. For the universal kit, you should simply not include the lower intercooler pipe (from the turbo compressor outlet to the intercooler inlet). This would allow people to fabricate their own lower I/C pipe, while having a solid foundation of a proven intercooler with a quality upper I/C pipe (from the outlet of the I/C to the throttle body). I think that just makes the most business sense.

Would these be new 1g smic's or used ones? If you wanted you could make some kits with the Starion fmic for people that want the front mounts. I'm hoping to get a Griffin fmic like the one Thura got from RRE. Where the hell do you live? I want you to make me some pipes for that one when I get it.

Right now I live out in Buffalo, NY. But I also go down a lot to NYC, because my family lives there.

The IC's would have to be used. Theres no way to really buy a new 1g SMIC, unless its from the dealer, and then theyre probably 400$ a piece or some other rediculous price. Theyd be cleaned and tested for full functionality, so you wouldnt have to worry about getting a leaky IC.

I could build you piping for the Starion, but Id need to get my hands on one, or see a car with one on it.

What would you charge for just the piping 2.5" for t25...i already have the intercooler.
