52241, Built bottom end?

After you get to HRC Stage II boosting about 9psi everyone says you have to build you bottom end. Here is where my question comes in is a built bottom end just pistons and rods that come with stage III? If the Stage III and a built bottom end is different then please let me know what is the difference.x(

Stage 3 and built bottom end is basically the same thing. The Hahn Stage 3 comes with a few specific parts, like injectors and a PowerFuel module, but most people who build the bottom end themselves usually get these types of upgrades too.

So what you are saying is that if I go with the stage III then I won't have to do anything else to my engine?

A built bottom end is not just a simple piston/rod replacement. Many of the forged pistons are oversized and the block will need to be bored out (you will need to completely remove your engine block and find an automotive machine shop to do the work). Another option is to send your short block to a shop to have them do both the machine work and engine build - www.vtengines.com.

Additional Items for a Stage III (might as well items since the engine is apart)
-Oil Pump
-Water Pump
-Timing Belt (it hasn't been done recently and have high mileage)
-Tensioner Pulley
-Clutch
-Injectors (for higher boost levels, stock are maxed out at 8 psi)

Hope this helps,
Kurt
