I've searched the boards to see if anyone else has info on/permormed a mod like this before with no luck. I'd like to run an intercooler under the bump in the hood with a cut-out to produce a ram air effect. Has anyone done this before? Am I looking at more trouble than it's worth? It works for Scoobies...

Sounds like a idea but I would think you would get better airflow in the front bumper.

i hope you dont plan on trying to ram air into the intercooler.

Don't subarus have alot of trouble with heatsoak on their intercoolers? I'd prefer to keep the IC in the bumper and put vents in the hood to extract heat.

It can be done.. you will have to relocate the battery and whateever else is there.. and I would imagine it would be pretty hot and it would be hard to get a lot of airflow there.

Having both a WRX with it's stock top mount and a front mount in my GS.. I can tell you that the front mount has much more of an advantage overall. The Subi with it's flat four motor, and exhaust exiting off of the rear passenger side while having a tall scoop, make it less prone to heat soak... but, it still does quite a bit. This is one reason why there are front mount kits for the car.

^I was gonna say the same thing, I know my friend's turbo coupe has a lot of problems with its IC getting heat soaked and turbo coupe's ham a ram air hood pushing air through the intercooler.
