To make a long story short, I picked up this turbo for free out of an old saab 900. Here are the specs...
T3 45 trim... Compressor 1.595" inducer, 2.367" exducer Turbine 2.319" inducer, 1.898" exducer
The compressor housing is .42 A/R and the turbine housing is .48 A/R. The inlet on the compressor housing is just 2" and the outlet is just under 1.5". I know the compressor is small, but this turbo came from a 2.0L saab and made 175 hp on 7psi of boost. All I want is a simple 5 psi setup. I will be using a supra side mount IC to cool everything down. Here is a compressor map of this turbo with some flow points plotted....

It seems to me that this turbo will just heat the air and not make much power past 5000 rpm. Although if I replot using higher boost numbers, the compressor becomes more efficient. I want to use this for now and upgrade later... this turbo is perfect since I recently rebuilt it.
Will it work, or am I crazy to use such a small compressor? Perhaps I do not know how to read a compressor map.

It is a small turbo, but if you are begging to go turbo it is not a bad start. The best advantage is you can easily swap it out later down the line for a larger T3/T4 when the time comes. As you mentioned, do not expect much up top. It is going to have a lot of backpressure if you try to crank it up too much.

So your saying that this is better than NA even though it is really small. I was afraid that it might not flow enough air at 0 psi for our engine. I just dont want this thing to restrict me, meaning I get 5 psi at low rpms, but when I get up to 7000 rpm the car runs worse than not having the turbo. You know what I mean? I am looking for a super 60 wheel and housing since I can just use the turbine I have now, but I want to get this show on the road.
By the way, my current mods are: CAI - MP 60mm TB - Milled Head 10:1 CR - AFX Pulley - 2.5 resonated test pipe - RS*R 2.75 Cat Back
