before the turbo the car started right up.

now i guess with the bigger injects. and Fuel pump it takes several cranks to turn over. Is this normal? sometimes it takes a whole lot, some times not so much.

to better describe.. normal used to be only a half a second and it would start up. now it takes anywhere between 1-4! seconds.. somewhere around there. any thoughts?

are you letting the aux fuel pump prime before cranking? If I dont leave my key on the on position and wait for the fuel pump my RS (hahn stage 2 as well) takes quite a bit to fire up. If i let it sit in ON for say 4 seconds it fires right up.

Any CEL's? Mine has done that at times but I have traced the problem to a broken sendor clip at the camsahft position sensor. For some reason either at install of the oil line, vacumm line, pipe flex, etc cause it to break. Check that out. I have a Walbro inline so the issue might not be to the pump itself. Maybe the fuse for the pump needs more amp's? :wary

My car does the same thing. It has something to do with the fuel pumps/pressure, esp after the car has been running, and you let it sit for like 10 minutes. The car takes like 4 seconds of cranking to start. I just prime the pumps, by turning the key to on, then off, then back on to start. Works every time. Fires right up. For some reason, the fuel pressure takes a bit longer to build up after the car is warm..

another likely possibility is a bad connection to the starter. I fixed mine.

are you running lower than factory idle fuel pressure? i have 440's, and the idle pressure turned down to about 17psi, via a SFMU. mine does the exact same thing every now and then. very normal with lower fuel pressures.

My friend suggested that too. Since it always happened on really hot days my friend thought it was because the air has to travel through the compressor wheel, and since it's so freakin hot in there the air might not be dense enough to actually get that first explosion to start the car. It was just his guess but I was willing to accept any answer after being frustrated with it for so long.

Eclipse RST, I don't think the fact that the air has to go through the compressor wheel will have anything to do with it. Barometric pressure is a constant 14.7 I believe and mother nature will not allow any sort of vacuum to exist inside the atmosphere. The reason they want to crank longer before firing, I don't know. I am going to attribute it to the aftermarket fuel system and all the extra fuel line. What I do if mine has been sitting for a day, I turn the key on, let it prime, and them turn it back off and do it once more. Starts right up every time because I had the same prob for a bit when I first boosted my car.

Ibet the ground kit would help with this.

how would a ground kit help this? There is nothing to stop the fuel from draining back to the tank with the HRC system, there is a check valve (1 way) on the stock FPR, but not on the Cartech. It just slowly bleeds pressure back to the tank. Then you have to let it prime to crank. Grounding has absolutely nothing to do with this.

i have the same problem.. sometimes i had to crank it like 3 times before it starts. im going to try that, prime the pumps then turn it off then try to start it.. well i will try it when im running.
