The shop that I was going to do the work on my engine "www.addit2yourtoy.com" said that a 1lb fuel pressure regulator would work just fine for my setup? Is this true??

I have a walbro 255 fuel pump 480cc injectors with SAFC...
i want to make sure i have all the right tools before i put this thing together...

No. Unless you use a DFI, or 8-inj, or some other fuel system that actually controls the injectors. The SAFC(or any other MAP modifier) won't do that safely for our cars. Our ECUs don't increase pulsewidth with boost, so if you're using the stock ECU to manage fuel then you have to use a higher rising rate. Those injectors are huge so you'll probably need something like a 2:1 FPR(2 pounder) and a really low static FP, like 15psi or something.

Do you have any recomendations on where to buy this rising rate or what one to buy? and when you say use a really low static FP like 15psi is that something i set on the SAFC or the FPR?

i think you can get a vortech s-fmu, and use that to tune the static using a fuel pressure gauge. maybe

What are you trying to do here? Do you have a turbo? Or a turbo kit? What is this thing your putting together?

I wanted to know if the 1lb fuel pressure regulator will work with my setup or if i will need a rising rate... i'm trying to get as much information before i start putting this together so if i need to take something back i can do it now before i put this car together... I have $5000.00 left I can spend on it after the stuff i already purchased... if i need to buy something different please let me know your recommendations...

I plan on having it dyno'ed after i break in the engine but i want to be sure their is a way i can get the engine to run good enough to break it in.. with just the SAFC and the MSD.. are my injectors too big? too small?

any suggestions i would love!!!

ahh - ok.

You should be able to get those injectors to work. I think 625cc is too big - I've seen as high as 550cc injecors on the stock ECU w/SAFC. As far as the regulator is concerned - you may want to get a Vortech SFMU. It's an adjustable fpr as well as a rising rate regulator. Do a search for SFMU - there's plenty of info about it and people seem to really like it. Don't confuse it with the FMU. The Vortech FMU is just a riser and it won't let you adjust the base(static) fuel pressure - you'll need the SFMU because of the bigger injectors(need to lower static fuel pressure).

Yeah... I agree with the guys. If you're gonna go turbo, there isn't a better FPR than a Vortec SFMU. Do a search for Vortec Engineering or something and you'll find their page. Talks about it in detail. Also search the threads, tons of threads all about this thing. It really is nice...
