51680, Problem with heat wrap. Read this plz.. Posted by Axewhlder, Jul-07-03 05:03 PM
Ok, I ordered some thermotec heat wrap for my manifold, hot side of the turbo and downpipe. Once it gets up to operating temp the damn wrap starts SMOKING! Obviously not a good thing. This shit is supposed to be good up to 2000 degrees farenhieght. Anyone else use this or know why the hell it's smoking? I havent had smoke come out of my bay since the HRC was installed and the coating burnt off. I dont exactly like seeing it now. ;)
Here's product info:

That's perfectly normal. Like everyone else mentioned, the smell will ge gone in a day or two. Plus, you'll notice the color turns darker, too--normal.

Yes I used the DEI wrap on my bike, smoking is normal as is color change. Also, you should get some silicon spray and coat it with it after it stops smoking.
