I am about to become stage 2 and boosting around 7psi, I know a guy who can do me 3" custom exhuast from the turbo, straight back to the muffler, no cat. Could there be any problems with this setup? Backpressure, etc? Tia.

Personally, I think 3" is a bit much if you'll be running 8-12 psi. You might see as much torque in the lower end, but you'll definitely see a bit of a gain at the top end from the high flowing exhaust. Now, if you plan to (at some point in the future) run 18-20 psi, then I think it would benefit you more than.

However, since the torque loss/gain is quite minimal, and since there's probably not much of a difference in cost to fabricate a 2.5" or a 3" exhaust, I'd go for it.:thumbsup

excellent, I mentioned it to some 4g63 boys and they thought it wouldn't "work" for whatever reason. Figured I'd check with all my 2gnt "brothers" :thumbsup

When i was testing the 2.5" DP, going from the stock HRC setup, I def noticed a good gain with it. I too was thinking I was going to loose somne low end, but it actually gained low end torque, at least it felt like it. Basically, it let the turbo start to spool up quicker in the rpm band, so it made it feel pepier. If anything, a 3" will be even better for this. This will negate any negative low end torque loss at all. I also noticed a EGT decrease of around 25-50 degrees with a larger pipe. Expect the same. If you can fit a 3" turbo back, go for it. 3" will be some work to fit in there right though..2.5" is hard enough..

I've seen the guy's work before, excellent job on turbo'd 420A's. Sounds like I can only expect positive results, so I'll go ahead and get it done, I'll be sure to let you all know how it goes. Thanks for the help
