51372, What about an evo VIII in a 2gnt???
Posted by B-rad, Jul-02-03 07:41 AM
Heres the story in my local junkyard they just brought in a brand new 2003 evo VIII me and my friend know the guy really well and he is gonna sell it to us for $1000 it has zero miles on it the only thing wrong with it was it was hit on the passenger side while sitting on the lot. i checked it out and the engine and drivetrain are in new condition. and i couldn't helpp but notice that it has the same motor mounts as our cars. ive done lots of resarch on this and im pretty sure i can swap the engine and even the awd drivetrain into my car and even if it wont fit i still havent lost because i will have almost everything i will need to turbo my car at a third of the price. does any one think its possible????

the evo motor has the cam gears and turned the same way our motor is and uses the same motor mounts.

We can already make loads of HP on the platform we have. You just end up with a tire ripping turbo FWD when you're done, for a lot less work. You'll have more trouble with the AWD driveline than you likely would the motor, and chances are it'll never fir the car. So, once again, you just end up with a high HP FWD car. What's the point?

Do you mean a 1000 dolllars, or 10,000 dollars? Either way, it wouldn't be a 2gnt anymore no would it?

Is he selling the WHOLE car to you for $1000, or just the engine? What is the condition of the brakes, rotors, rims, and FMIC?

if this guy is selling it for a grand i would say buy it, part it out, and there is your money to boost your 420a the right way! :7

Just buy the EVO for 1000 and fix the damage. Then you can sell it and put the money into your car, or you could keep it and daily drive the 2gnt and mod the EVO. He can't mean the whole car for 1000 though can he?

Just buy an awd 2g. I'll bet you come way on top that way. :rolleyes

I think your money is best spent on fuel upgrades, clutches and turbos, once you have a strong(built) 2.0l.

yes the whole car for just one thousand dollars. there is noway to fix the car its totally screwed it looks like it got hit in the passenger side and a car rolled over th top of it. me and my friend are going in half on it hes gonna get the rims, seats, and brakes and i can have everything else. i will prolly just end up putting that turbo and fuel system on my 420a. allthough it would be nice if i could make the engine and drivetrain work especially since our cars are about 1500 pounds lighter than the evo

wow 1000 bux eh got a picture of it. ^_^

also take into the account that the EVOVIII chassis ia WAY stronger than ours. I know the 2G chassis is pretty tough but from what I've heard the CT9A (I think that's the code) is an entirely different monster. So you'd probably wind up twisting the 2G chassis and stuff. But then again you could weld in a roll cage if your good enough to transplant all those goodies you can easily install a roll cage.

Are you totally SURE he is selling the ENTIRE car for 1k, or just the shell with no engine? cause, no offense to him or anything, but if he was selling just the damn motor for 1k he is pretty stupid, cause he could get at least 5-6k i would think for that motor and drivetrain. i know MANY 2g GSX drivers that would kill, rape, and pillage for that motor. if he is, thats a DAMN good deal. id buy it, totally forget about fitting it in your NT, and sell it for 5k in profit. or, sell your car, buy a 1g AWD, put that Evo motor in there, and enjoy having one badass car. the way I see it, people are modding 2G's to over 500 whp all over the place. A lot of those have cages, but I'm sure some don't. This engine will be putting out something like a stage 2-3 turbo, but it's be AWD. The GSX has more structural support, but from what I read in SCC about John Huh's car (Prostreet Industries GSX Spyder), they said it was structurally sound for the AWD converion. HMMM, it is gonna have more since it's topless. I dunno. I say go for it if you can do it. If you run into shit, just fix it. Trial and error until u got a badass ride. I would do it if I could. I'd take power any way I could get it. 1,000 bux isn't bad at all for a motor with that power output. You aren't gonna get a 420a crate motor with a turbo on it for that. :thumbsup
