51369, Finaly, Turbo on its way
Posted by slodsm, Jul-02-03 07:12 AM
The SLODSM will not be quite as slow after this weekend. I got the Hahn Stage 2 kit side mount, Missing link, Pyrometer and boost gauges. I will receive the kit tommorow after 4 sometime and spend my 4th weekend installing it lol. What a way to celebrate independance day. Next month will be S AFC and Vortech SFMU, then Oct will be cams, cam gears and a dyno tune. God I can't wait.

safc is shit. dont use it if you dont need to. and do not trust that cartech fpr! make sure to check your fuel pressure every time you start your car with that little bastard. I leaned out so bad on me once and i wasnt paying attention, pop goes the head gasket! :o

One of my local shops deals with a warehouse in SC and they had them in stock, I could have my side mount next day for 3k or front mount 2nd day for 3500. I really don't need the front mount so I just went with the side. I am not too positive that the front mount will have any increase in power, it just looks really nice. I would rather spend the extra 500 on cams.

Kinda hard to do since I already paid for the hahn kit, plus no one locally deals with star and I prefer to support my local shop than buy off the net.

Congrats man! welcome to the gonna stay flat broke club! :-) seriously though, you have a new found love/appreciation for your car now. one thing... IMO, the FMIC was well worth the 500 extra bucks. no heat soak, MUCH better cooling capacity. if you ever wanna run big boost(and i assume you do, since you mentioned rebuilding) the FMIC is the way to go. SMIC will do ya just fine till then though. the absolute, most important upgrade to the HRC kit you can do is get a SFMU soon! get it first thing, trust me.

nitrous rs, what springs are you running in the rear of your car? That 2.0 60 is really not that bad for a 16 inch dr with a fwd car, with a 14 in say worn BFG and low air pressure like around 15, I could see a 1.8 or so but a 2 is not bad for that setup, I am in need of new springs for my car, it too soft in the back and will not launch worth a crap once I make it to the track with the turbo on.

I almost done with my kit, it didn't show up till last night (damn UPS and holidays) and jesus christ, Everything is great except for the fuel system, if I didn't have a clue about cars, I would not have even attempted to put this thing in for that reason alone, the picture detail is aweful and where to put the lines is about as vague as you can be. Oh well I figured it out but crap, that would be really frustrating for someone who had not done a lot of auto work before. Anyways, should be running by one this afternoon, I can't wait.
