51019, FMU install help! Posted by 420aturbo, Jun-25-03 08:34 AM
OK I have the NER kit. It came with a Vortech FMU and a MSD inline pump. I need to know how to install it correctly so I don't blow the motor up again. I saw this in an earlier post for the Star FMU install:
Top nipple on FMU gets vacuum. Bottom nipple goes back to tank Middle one goes to stock FPR
I have the inline pump hooked up by the firewall and the FMU is mounted under the car by the fuel filter and FPR (my car is a 98). I want to make sure that is the proper way to do it. In that earlier picture, there is nothing said about removing the schrader valve from the rail and running a return line from there.

You dont run a return line with the regular FMU. it uses the existing FPR/Fuel filter, which is a returnless fuel system by design. with it under the car, you will have a long vaccum line from the FMU to a vaccum source on the intake manifold. both other lines are right there close. to the tank and to the factory FPR. www.TeamKLR.com 1997 Silver RS Wiseco 8.8:1 Pistons(back to low compression!)
