Ya know, regarding this - damn my engine bay is hot since I got the turbo set up. Has anyone else noticed a SIGNIFCANT inscrease in heat due to the turbo setup. I'd like to cool it down, the best solution I can come up with so far is a VIS invader hood. Any other suggestions or reasons why it would be so hot? I've melted a cone filter, 2 BOV lines, and a rubber fuel line all in my engine bay.

Rip the plastic weatherstrip off the top of the firewall. Lets air move out of the engine bay from the top, you you don't have a big collecting point for hot air and exhaust gasses to collect. Sorta like a poor man's cowl hood.

"power hump" - ha! ... now that's funny :+ Too bad it's more like a decoration hump. I never thought of the weather stripping, I'll give that a shot - thanks guys.

yeah, the weatherstripping idea works pretty well. in addition to that i put a few washers on the hood mounts too, so the hood rides about 1/4" higher than it used to. makes it look kinda funny up close, but hey, for a free "mod" it works really well.

I have the carbon hood and I was worried about heat as well. I used some black plastic 3/4 inch spacers and raised the back end of the hood. Seems to work well for me and looks tough I think. late mike

maybe someone should make a reverse power hump cowl hood or just a cowl hood that isn't disgusting like a lot of hoods for the 2g

ive got the aerogear predator with the holes in it and my engine bay is still hot as shit...the paint on the outside of the hood has bubbled and melted, now there is a big bubbly brown spot on the paint right above where the turbine housing is. now my hood needs a repaint and i have to make a heat shield for the turbo...unless someone has started making and selling them recently

How are you guys having these high heat problems!? Bubbling paint, melted wires? Damn. I'm a stage 1 at 6 psi and it gets pretty hot in my bay after a run but that's rediculous.

I have the stock heat pad on my hood(not the metalish one), and i have had no probs with melting/fading paint. Although the outside temps here rearely get over 90-95 degrees though.. I say just get some of that thermo shielding cloth and put that where the stock pad is on the hood. That should take care of any paint issues from the heat.

you guys talking about the weatherstrip, is it the piece that goes around the wipers???

It's a black strip that runs along the space where the hood connects to the car. It comes off really easily. It's just a series of white pops. No biggy.
