Hows everybody I'm New what's going on i wanted to know the best blow off valve and the best sounding for handling over 20lbs. boost i drive a 1998 gsx turbo i read on here bout sending my motor to VTENGINES i thank that person very deeply their in the process of building mines now i was thinking bout the blitz dual driv blow off valve and the hks racing blow off valve type 2 the greddy type s seems to small need help if you have clips of how yours sound i would very much appreciate it thanks

Hey man, I would go with the HKS SS BOV or the Greddy Type R BOV. Both are used with guy runn almost 30psi on their RFX-7s :D

Don't get the HKS SSQ or whatever....fuckin thing sounds like when you were in school and the chalk would make that really loud squeak noise. I hate those BOV's, both of my friends with gst/gsx's use them. Bleh!

Get a Type-S. It's all you need. It also lets you vent back into the intake like the BOV SHOULD do.

i'm running a type-s with 15 pounds of boost. my friend is running 17-20 psi on his big16g turbo and he has a greddy type-r.

yeah as Jeff said..get one that vents back into intake...it's a lot better for the car. When i didnt know about blow off valves and shit i wanted one just for the noise..and i was like wow TurboXS Type-H RFL Blow off valve..cause RFL = Real Fuking Loud..but.. it caused me to throw a CEL every month or so and it wasn't as smoothas my Type-S. I personally dont like venting to atmosphere.

Why is it better to vent back into the intake?

Air that goes through the turbo has already been metered by the ECU, which means that it is expected to go into the motor, and the fuel delivery will be adjusted accordingly. If that air simply vanishes (is vented to atmosphere), then the ECU will be adding fuel for a whole lot more air. That means that for a moment, you will have a stumble, and might even stall. Another advantage to dumping it back into the intake stream before the turbo is that it helps keep the turbo spooled. It's just not as loud.

Atmospheric venting from my understanding on a 420a is perfectly fine. The two GST/GSX boys up above have Mass Airflow Sensors in their intake which would account for what The1Bill is talking about. But we do not have this sensor in our air stream. Therefore we don't NEED to vent into the intake.

Oh well, good info for the masses.

The Type-S is plenty big enough for 20+psi. You don't need some huge F'n monstrosity of a BOV like the HKS SS. It is just big to look big and important. The Type-S will work perfectly well for over 20psi of boost.

Sup guys.. I really want to make sure of this.

So for cars that comes with turbo,
they need "BY-Pass-VALVE".

And for cars that goes for "force induction" (turbo),
they just need "blow-Off-Vale"

Am I correct here?

A By Pass Valve is a BOV. You have them on all forced inducted applications. He just wants an upgrade..

the 4g63 has to vent back into the intake unless you have a VPC..... if you have a VPC or are getting one then i would go with the TIAL bov. but if you aren't planning on running with a VPC then as jeff said the Greddy type-S will work fine....... the tial is good for up to around 36-40psi.......
